Default Coming Home or Bermuda Triangle

These are another of my 2 favorite Bob Welch songs that I thought would be interesting to compare. I think Heroes Are Hard To Find is a very good album, especially considering all the stress the members must have been under with what went down during the Mystery To Me tour and of course the fake band.

This ones easy, Bermuda Triangle is way better. I don't really care for Coming Home. And actually the studio version of Bermuda Triangle is just OK, the live versions from the Heroes tour are INCREDIBLE, spoken story in the middle and all.

I've always had a "thing" for "Bermuda Triangle" (hence my actually spending 3 months recording a cover version of it back in 1978). I like their studio version equally to the live versions they did back in '74.

"Coming Home" is/was a great concert song, too...I actually was extremely surprised how close to the album version they did the song live back during the '74 tour, considering all the special effects and multiple guitar tracks.

Bermuda Triangle Live is incredible...

the vamping that the McVies do around Welch's singing... plus the harmonies on the chorus... galvstn.. new orleans... etc... gave me goose bumps...

having said that I loved every tune Welch did on Heroes... it made me wonder why that was his last...

In fact.. I loved that four piece..it's my favorite version of FMac...

the pic on the back cover is great too... it says a lot... they look exhausted but still hangin.....

The thing is, these 2 songs as well as the 2 others in the other thread I started, for me anyway, just have that great "Bob Welch" vibe to them. And several others as well. Just never get tired of listening to them.

Bermuda Triangle all the way. And as great as the studio version is, the live version is epic. That "live" 74 bootleg version is unbelievable. Anytime I play it for friends who know nothing of FM other than the Rumors lineup are blown away by the sheer originality of its conception and the gutsiness of the performance. No one else can talk through a song so musically as Bob Welch did there. And the substitution of the piano for the flamenco guitar is equally exciting. The "core trio" sound is so distinctive and yet they also resemble Traffic circa 1972 here.

Ooh, this one is really a toss up for me. I guess I'd have to chose Coming Home though. I'm glad I'm not the only one who LOVES Heroes. Such an atmospheric, magical album. *Sigh*... the cool music Bob could have made with Buckingham and Nicks in Fleetwood Mac.
