Fleetwood Mac Fifth Wheel Poll: Sheryl Crow vs. Dave Stewart
If you had to choose the compromise to make Stevie happy (in whatever capacity that would be)...

I don't understand the question... do join the band... to sing with them onstage... to produce the next album? All the above?

^^All good questions, but I think I would choose Dave, no matter what the answers are.
Although, maybe I should have found out how well Dave plays the piano before answering. Michele |

Dave Stewart is the ugly hubcap you sell for scrap metal when you need cash to pay for rent.
Or rock. (I KEED. Dave Stewart and Stevie Nicks have no history/association pertaining to cocaine whatsoever) |

I say Sheryl, just to help even out the male vs female dynamic of FM.

I vote Dave Stewart, although, I wonder if this will change once I hear all of Stevie's album
I really don't think Sheryl Crow would work in the context of Fleetwood Mac. Whilst I think Stevie would rather like being surrounded by guys

Dave Stewart might be a more interesting addition to the band. He unbalances the sex dynamic even more than it already is (with Christine gone). We don't want another woman just to keep Stevie company. We want another man to bring Stevie's unhappiness & alienation into even sharper relief. That's what proves interesting. Or maybe it doesn't. If she's been lifeless at Fleetwood Mac shows since Christine left, alienating her even further might truly turn her into a barely-breathing zombie in performance.

Sheryl's presence would probably result is some increased publicity; Dave's hopefully in more cohesive, better sounding music, done faster.
Sheryl has already been present during some limited FM album making sessions for SYW... From some scattered things people wrote about Dave's approach to producing, he seems to respect/adapt to the style of the artist(s) he's working with. Maybe his working with Lindsey et al would have somewhat leveling effect, possibly similar to that resulting from Christine working with Lindsey. |

My main issue with bringing Dave into Fleetwood Mac as a producer is this. In my opinion, his production style is just too darn polished and slick. It's very of the moment, but not necessarily progressive.
On the other hand, Sheryl would add a very interesting take to the band. She's both retro and progressive. I think she could add a very interesting flavor to Fleetwood Mac. However, I think she's far too successful in her own career to have anything to do with the band.
