All I remember is this (my life was kind of focussed on other stuff around 1991-92 so I wasn't up to the minute at the time):

1990: Stevie and Christine announce they are leaving the group

1991: Rick leaves too

1992: The 25 Years box set comes out with two newly recorded tracks featuring Mick, John, Chris and Billy. It turns out that Chris's reluctance is to tour rather than to record.

1993: Dave and Bekka are announced as new members. A promotional picture appears featuring the (soon-to-be) Time lineup but without Billy - Chris and Bekka are holding fake beards to their faces. According to Billy in the Penguin Q & A he had left at this time to pursue his solo career (releasing Coming Home in 1993).

1994: The band play at the World Cup concert - I actually saw this on TV, a four song set. The lineup includes Billy but not Chris. I heard later (I think from Billy maybe in the Q & A) that he'd been persuaded back. With Chris's reluctance to tour I can well see why Mick would have wanted a familiar face back rather than to be solely fronted by the two new members.

I think we all know the rest.

I wish Mick would just say definitively that the group does not exist anymore. Then we can edit Wikipedia and get rid of all this crap about the surviving members of the 2018-19 lineup comprising a current configuration.

Thanks to Mick and all erstwhile members for the good times.

The World Cup concert was not a "tour."

I'm thinking Chris left the band sometime in 1993, and her return in 1997 was after a four year absence – just a bit longer than Stevie's.

She just stuck around long enough to cut some material for Time before departing.

Bekka and Billy make it sound like she was actively involved throughout the album. Billy came back in 1994.

I’m thinking she tried to leave in late-1994/early-1995, but the label forced her back in. She was part of Lindsey’s “solo” sessions, which were in 1996, so she was gone no more than a year and a half.

.
Mick mentioned in his photo book that Christine and Stevie announced they will leave the group, during the Behind the Mask tour. Though Christine meant touring, I think.

I know it wasn't a tour. But it was certainly followed by one (Another Link in the Chain).

Chris featured on the Time album in 1995 - her departure was from the touring lineup.

I firmly believe Christine was involved for the first 3/4 of the album. Same for Richard. They both left at some point and the band submitted an album without her, but was rejected. That’s when they threw some studio demos on the album.

Everyone has been so vague about it.

Frustrating.
With the Rolling Stone interviews with Billy and Bekka that came out this year, we certainly do have more information about the making of this album, although there are still some gaps as to Christine's involvement.

Where are the sources that indicate that Christine and Dashut left the project early on? I'm relatively new to the Ledge, so my apologies if this has been answered before.

Everything has been discussed. We've been beating the same dead horse for DECADES now.
