Concert season is coming !
Just received the first names for the open air summer concerts here in Antwerp and i cannot believe it but K.D.Lang is coming ! I so love her voice and think she is one of the most gifted singers of this day. And yeah, i already got tickets
I also got tickets for Willy Deville and for the yearly Blues festival. Last year i sent a mail to the organisation of the open air concerts, asking them to bring Lindsey over to Belgium but never got a reply ...and his name is not on the list (yet) but i have not given up hope yet .....

So far we have tickets to Tom Petty and Jack Johnson. I need to get my Dave Matthews tickets, and I'll be good for the year.

Hey Suzy, will you by any chance be going to Rock Werchter? Or Werchter Classics? I'm going to the latter to see The Police. Apparantly it's cheaper to go see them at a festival (where they play the same set) than in an arena somewhere.

I'd really like to see k.d. as wsell. So far this year, I've been to a lot of "emo" shows. Interesting to say the least. Lot's of bad, plenty of good though. But the title...."emo." Makes no sense.
Anyway, I'm HIGHLY anticipating 2 Rilo Kiley shows next week, then Goldfrapp. Nothing much more till June onward. I'd like to see the Petty show in SF (it's some huge festival thing) but tix are outrageous. |

I'm not. Apart from having other obligations that day, i'm not particularly fond of huge crowds I guess that is why i so enjoyed LB's concerts last year; small theaters and much better view and sound. The open air theatre in Antwerp has about that same capacity, and it's in the middle of a huge park so you sit there surrounded by trees, with bats flying over at dawn I absolutely love it (except when it's raining ofcourse )

I've checked Humphrey's site and my pick would be Plant & Krauss , Crosby Stills & Nash and Chris Isaak (and maybe the Beach Boys). I really liked Humphrey's, so much even that if i win the lottery i'll be renting a room there for a whole month !

so far it's...
it should be an awesome summer -- lots of concerts that haven't been announced yet that are going to kick some serious ass.

I've got tix for the Raconteurs on May 3rd. I'll be buying tix soon for Stone Temple Pilots. Still up in the air re: The B-52's and a few others I'm still waiting for dates to be announced.
The Austin City Limits Festival lineup was just announced. I was waiting for this before committing to/buying tickets for other acts I was hoping would come to my own backyard. I'm pretty stoked about the mid-tier acts, so many were on my SXSW list and I didn't see them in March. I've bolded who I'm most excited about. * Foo Fighters * Spiritualized * Colour Revolt * Robert Plant and Alison Krauss * Drive-By Truckers * Five Times August * Beck * Ingrid Michaelson * Langhorne Slim * Manu Chao * Stars - very FM-ish * Sybris * John Fogerty * Alejandro Escovedo * Eli ‘Paper Boy’ Reed and the True Loves * David Byrne * Jose Gonzales * Bavu Blakes and the Extra Plairs * The Raconteurs * CSS * AA Bondy * The Mars Volta * Del the Funky Homosapien * Christopher Denny * Gnarls Barkley * Man Man * Mike Farris * Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band * Jamie Lidell * The Lee Boys * N.E.R.D * MGMT * South Austin Jug Band * Erykah Badu * What Made Milwaukee Famous * American Bang * Robert Earl Keen * Jenny Lewis * Massacoustics * Patty Griffin * M. Ward * Belleville Outfit * Tegan and Sara * Asleep at the Wheel * We Go to 11 * Iron and Wine * Mason Jennings * Band of Heathens * G. Love and Special Sauce * Heartless Bastards * City and Colour * Neko Case * Antibalas * Sunny Sweeney * Band of Horses * The Nachito Herrera All Stars * Elizabeth Wills * The Swell Season * Shooter Jennings * Automata * Silversun Pickups * Xavier Rudd * Bonnie Bishop * Gogol Bordello * Yeasayer * Ben Sollee * Gillian Welch * Octopus Project * Ben Cylus * Eli Young Band * Joe Bonamassa * The Concert Supremes * The Black Keys * The Kills * River City Christionettes * Against Me! * White Denim * Shields of Faith * Jakob Dylan and the Gold * Mountain Rebels * Louis XIV * The Jones Family Singers * Okkervil River * Delta Spirit * Nakia and His Southern Cousins * Galactic * Mates of State * Brotherly Luv * Kevin Fowler * Nicole Atkins and the Sea * The Hensley Ensemble * Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings * Electric Touch * School of Rock * Hot Chip - they do a cover of "Everywhere" * Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears * Jambo * Vampire Weekend * Back Door Slam * Q Brothers * Slightly Stoopid * Tristan Prettyman * Buck Howdy with BB * Duffy * The Strange Boys * Uncle Rock * Flyleaf * Ryan Bingham * Big Don * Roky Erickson * Scott Biram * Mr. RAY * Yonder Mountain String Band * The Freddy Jones Band * The Jimmies |

Springsteen just played in Dallas, a bunch of local media attended. Yesterday, a local DJ said he spent some time talking with Little Steven - and that they might add another leg to the tour. They'd be dumb not to. I was hoping they'd be the main headliner for ACL, but doesn't look like that's gonna happen.
You did hear about Jon Bon Jovi joining them onstage in Dallas for "Glory Days," right? |

Damn Livia!!!! & here I thought I got out a lot!
The Mars Volta should be PHENOMENAL. And Erakah Badu, OMFG< I LOVE her, but know no one else that does =0( Generally I'll brave shows myself, but I dunno about hers. I'd really like to see her live though. Is the new album any good? LOTS of people on your list that I didn't even know were out & about. Please add to this thread w/ anything you go too! |

LOL - Well, that is a 3-day festival.
The Mars Volta just played here, and I didn't decide I liked them until recently, so I'm glad they'll be back. Haven't heard Erykah's new album yet and haven't ever seen her. Last edited by Livia; 04-15-2008 at 01:27 PM.. |
