Default Is There A Cure For Really Bad Allergies???

I am dying with really bad allergies. I never had them before but in the past decade or so they've been really awful. I've had the allergy tests and seems I'm allergic to most everything. But it's not like this all the time. I dread the idea of going back for twick weekly allergy shots - with the big needle - but seems that's my only hope. I take Benadryl at night - and it helps me sleep - but I can't take anything during the say 'cuz even the non-drowsy meds make me sleepy. Does anyone have any ideas, esp. holistic? A friend suggested acupuncture, which I believe in, but I've never had it before and I'm a bit nervous at the idea.

Flonase nasal spray. It's a histamine blocker. I take it all year-round. There's a generic out now that's around $22 a bottle.

Holistic: I know lots of people who swear by the Neti pot. You can find those at health food stores.

Good luck!

It's not a practical suggestion, but a logical one.

Move to a different climate.

It depends how serious the consequenses are surely.I'm guessing you don't have anaphalaxus attacks as a result, (like we do) in which case we try and avoid those things that set it off (although the list keeps growing) and keep our epipens at the ready. All I can suggest is to stick with your doctor/ do your own research on the net or whatever and make do with the best of a bad situation.Good luck.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggetions. Other people have mentioned the neti pot so I think I'll try that as well. Guess I'm def. not alone in this allergy hell. Chili D ~ what you're saying makes perfect sense and my dad's been using my allergies as an excuse to get me out to AZ but I'd miss the ocean too much.

I have unbelieveable allergy problems! I'm allergic to everything environmental and many, many foods. The only things that truly helped me was going to an allergist and having allergy testing. I have been taking allergy shots made just for me for the past 10 years. The test weren't fun, but I feel a lot better now. Due to the tests I know what foods that I'm allergic too as well. Therefore, I avoid them altogether. The combination of shots, medication, and avoiding the foods I'm allergic to have really, really given me relief.

I find that the sweet release of death is the only likely solution to my allergy problems. Thankfully mine are only seasonal, because there's no way I could deal with this all year. Friggin' grass and everybody wanting to mow at the same time.

I love spring, but damn.
