Default a note of appriciation to Christine

You know, I really like this forum, because as much as I love Stevie, it really annoys me when people think she's the only thing that makes Fleetwood Mac go. I'm not trying to diss Stevie at all, but I think it's really important to remember that there are other people in the band

I think Christine was the balance in the Rumours lineup.

Now they sound like Buckingham Nicks backed by Fleetwood & McVie - which actually isn't bad but something's missing.

The heart is what's missing.
But, I'm happy that she's happy. She's certainly earned it.

Another thing I think isa important to note is this; if Christine wouldve balked at having another girl in the band back in '75, we might not have all the great music that was created after that.

Remember even Chris herself described it now as Buckingham/Nicks with Mick & John in the background.

You know, I appriciate Chris even more because she was her own woman and just decided she'd had enough of Fleetwood Mac, and I'm glad she left on good terms with the band, becasue as we all know, there are more than enough bands to go around with VERY acrimonious breakups

A Lady knows when to make a graceful exit. She was never obsessed with being a "star", just a band member. Quite odd that a "band member" had more hits than the others combined! She knew it was time for her to retire, and made her graceful exit. Really, in your 60's, with millions of dollars in the bank, WHY would anyone want to trek all over the globe? I'd make the exact same decision she did.

I think I would as well.

She'd had enough of the touring, of L.A., of her ex and came back to the peace and quiet of the english countryside.

There was no financial reason to make any more records - just the sheer love of making music. She was able to do it at her own pace. No other band members or record company executives nagging her.

And we got (probably) one last listen to the marvellous voice.

Good on yer girl!

Gail

Isn't it completely AMAZING how her voice has gotten consistently better over the years. Like fine wine. I can literally think of know one else who can make that claim. "Some" sound like a bag of roofing nails, being regurgitated, now!
