Default Terrific songs that need greater exposure

Radio sucks. I hate the radio. They play the same songs over and over, never letting us hear buried gems that should have been big hits. This is a place where you can share songs would be loved by more people if only people knew they existed.

Here are some
Rotary Connection - I Am the Black Gold of the Sun
Romeo Void - A Girl in Trouble is a Temporary Thing
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Cities in Dust
Teena Marie - Love Me Down Easy

Go download these songs, and also post songs you think are great so I can go download those.

Yeah that's because 85% of all radio is owned by corporate America. Mostly Clear Channel. Song selections suck now. I remember calling into the local classic rock station on the REQUEST line and I asked for the live version of "The Chain"...and the woman said she couldnt play it because there can only be 1 song from the 70s every half hour or something ridiculous like that.

And no, I won't be downloading any Teena Marie. I dont think she ever did anything worth while. And that last album she put out? Hideous.

I like the fact that the music I tend to like isn't that over exposed. Just "the right kinda people" listen to it! If I like someone who becomes too big too fast, I stop liking them quickly. This happened with Sarah McLachlan. I loved her early work but as soon as Surfacing broke, she became HUGE. And I thought the album only had about three good songs on it when I bought it. I was really disappointed in it but for whatever reason, the masses freakin' loved it! Weird.

Any number of songs by The Replacements.A great band that never really broke out of the college band status. At their peak every bit as good as R.E.M. was IMO.

lol, sad but true. out of maybe 15 radio stations here, 5 or 6 of them are Clear Channel-owned.

Oh, and as for good songs they didn't play but should have... Shake The Disease by Depeche Mode would be my first choice. Great, haunting melody.

I haven't listened to (Dutch) radio in years exactly because of this. Same songs, same people, not even the people I like.
Now I've discovered internetradio Kink-fm is my current fave. Yeah, Dutch again.
Great song that got very deserved airplay there:
dEUS - Seven Days

Not even Ooh La La La, Dear Mr. Gaye, If I Were A Bell or Square Biz?

And I kinda agree about the last album, although I'm Still In Love, A Rose and Makavelli Never Lied are pretty good to me. I was hoping Black Rain would be good, but by the middle of it I'm plugging my ears...

Dakota- Stereophonics

This band for whatever reason never gets airplay here, even though they're very popular in Europe, and their latest album, Language,Sex,Violence,Other? was #1 in England for awhile. These guys need to get a break here, because they're a helluva band that really cares about making music from the heart.
