I'm actually hoping a mammoth rain-induced sinkhole develops under the Kodak Theater, so the world is spared 6-1/2 hours (or more) of complete crap.

well you liked Sideways and I thought it looked like a home movie and left during it. Conversly, I do not think you like big movies like The Aviator even though they are good. CB as KH was awe inspiring and jaw dropping. But, to each their own

You're right, I thought The Aviator was utter ****. Especially as a film about Howard Hughes, it really sucked in that respect. I can't stand DiCaprio, anyway, I think he's awful. I did love Cate Blanchett because I always do, but I'm going with Madsen. I don't get what you mean by the home movie-ness of Sideways, though.

But to each his own, like you said.

you are so funny - I would never call an epic "utter ****" - but I know - black and white - no grey

Epic means nothing to me, my friend. Titanic was epic, yet the script and story stunk to the high heavens and for every good performance, there was an awful one. The Postman was an epic and that was unwatchable. I didn't think The Aviator delivered and Scorcese certainly doesn't hold a candle next to Eastwood this year. It's sad that he's never won an Oscar, but he doesn't deserve to win this one just because he hasn't won before. The first half was quite good, but after the first hour, it went down the ****ter. And I just couldn't get over what a missed opportunity it was.

Just my opinions, though. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I still think Zach Braff was completely shafted. I haven't seen anything that was nominated this year but i'm rooting for Sideways because it's the only movie I had an interest in seeing other than Closer

Darling, just because something is popular, doesn't mean it can't be good.

(BTW, Glitter is on Vh1 if anyone's interested.)

He won an award last night at the Independent Spirit Awards. And Sideways won in every category it was nominated in.

I agree. But just because it's popular doesn't mean it's good. I thought The Aviator sucked.

I saw Glitter in the theater with a few friends for ****s and giggles. Good time.
