Yes! They seem to have their listless heads up their fat asses. So many obvious but missed opportunities. Fleetwood Mac is a like big ship that has a hard time maneuvering in the sea of marketing prospects. How many more Rumours repackages will they make?

The sheer artistic output from the Lindsey/Stevie era of Fleetwood Mac is pitiful when held against how long they have existed. Granted, with so many strong personalities, egos and various circumstances and distractions, they don't function normally.

I'm grateful they at least milked their back catalog with deluxe versions of Rumours and Tusk, and gave us The Chain box set (A fresh, updated, better box set would be welcome). But the have ignored Mirage and Tango in the Night.

They've done three somewhat redundant tours, with the same old same old, without taking advantage of creative marketing strategies. The blame falls on their managers as well as themselves.

they need to SWALLOW their egos and mutually hire the BEST manager in the business. they can certainly afford it. During periods when they are functioning as the band, ONE manager... keep their people for the solo outings

Selling the remasters at the shows would be one way to move actual physical product i.e. CD's - it would be even more interesting with a way to partner up with Amazon Prime or Itunes with some sort of system that would easily allow people to purchase the remasters on their smart phones and have it synch directly to their Amazon Cloud or Itunes account etc.

Either they get their act together or they don't (leaning toward don't I see, but that's besides the point). Most of their concerts have sold out, I don't think that public interest is the problem. If they did make a new album, it would sell as much as it can in the current market, but it wouldn't go unnoticed just because the times are changing or whatever. The Eagles just released a new album less than 10 years ago and it went to #1, no doubt in my mind FM can do the same.

But that would involve the the 5 of them together actually working as a 5 piece and that's probably never gonna happen.

I am so hoping you're right with this. I want it to be true more than you can possibly imagine.

They will definitely want to put a nice bow on their legacy. However, I'm betting the release of the album will be pushed into 2017 to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Rumours. That will also make it 30 years since the last Mac album from the Rumours lineup (Tango). I think all of that symmetry will make for a better performing album than any of us are surmising.

that would be lovely, but they are just too dysfunctional to have any of that sort of forethought or intelligence behind their actions. If it plays out that way it will all be just happenstance.

It's never going to happen because of ONE person.

I agree there will be the new album, perhaps a double album, like the Eagles 'Long Road Out of Eden', that will have all the band members together shining bright. They have come so far already with recording. We even know the names of some of the songs. Everyone was doubting Christines' return for years, and here she is. They know this is the last Fleetwood Mac album, and the last times they will ever tour together. Failed marketing notwithstanding, I believe they will take everything they have and release a double album, or divide the work to be released as two or three albums over time. They will come through for us fans and for their legacy as one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time.

When the hell have they EVER done that?

Their "Legacy" is of soap opera hype, not the music or performances, so "one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time" is really out of the question.

Agreed. Most of the fans don't care about the music as much as the drama.

Christine would've likely recorded another solo album, had she not been welcomed back or she balked at a world tour. I would have loved that. Instead, there's this intolerable wait for a maybe--and very possibly a half-assed maybe. I'm so hoping they do it right.

Really?? Maybe with older generations, but there are a lot of younger people right now buying their music and many of them don't know the actual back story of the band much at all.
