Songs you'd like to hear covered by PG / PGSG
Hello,
I've been reading the postings and record reviews and it seems that the consensus on PGSG is that there is a lack of strong material for the studio records and an over reliance of Robert Johnson covers at the live shows - Well...what would you like to hear them play? Here are a few my my wish list: 1) Cold Day in Hell - Otis Rush - a huge influence on Green and this is custom made for Green's playing - a great slow burner 2) The Burning of the Midnight Lamp - Jimi Hendrix - drop the lyrics, do it instrumental, like Stevie Ray Vaughan did with "Little Wing" - could be done electric or acoustic 3) Somebody in My Home - Howlin' Wolf - another touchstone for Green - using an arrangement similar to the one utilitized for the Boston Tea Party versions of Jumping at Shadows, this could showcase not only Green's guitar but his harmonica as well 4) The Man in the Long Black Coat - Bob Dylan - with it's bare bones structure Green could build an interesting soundscape and it's speak / sing vocal line is well suited to Green's "new" vocal style 5) Illinois Blues - Skip James - back to basics - Green solo on National Steel - what more could you need? These are just a few ideas - hopefully other people have their own and we could maybe put an album's worth of material together (just for the hell of it)

Good topic!!
"Trouble No More"---Muddy Waters: Yeah, the Allman Bros did it years ago, but just think of the job "the boys" could do on this one. "Brown Sugar"---ZZ Top (from their 1st album; NOT the Rolling Stones song): The song as is has a "Peter Green" feel to it. "Just For You"---Peter Green: They updated "Tribal Dance" and look how good THAT came out...this one is ALSO from the In The Skies album "Born Under A Bad Sign"---Albert King: Sure, Peter recorded it for his Little Dreamer album, but just think how much better it would sound NOW.
