The longer I sit with this devastating news, the more I am inclined to say that this may have been a mutual agreement. Yes, I'm sure tensions were running high. Mick needed money, Stevie didn't want to sit home for a year. After Lindsey didn't "sign on the dotted line" and give in to pressure, he told them to go ahead. They called his bluff and decided to do just that.

They called Mike Campbell and Billy Burnett. Burnett didn't work out in the rehearsals (something was missing), so Mick called his friend Neil Finn.

Though everyone is pissed off, this will give Lindsey time to do his solo small machine thing. He can also enjoy time with his family.

We will see a MASSIVE FAREWELL TOUR in late 2020 going into 2021 with Lindsey "miraculously" returning to the fold. News of the iconic lineup Rumours reuniting will send the farewell tour ticket sales THROUGH THE ROOF. The tour will span the better part of two years, hitting all major markets twice. Don't expect new music, though. I'm just sorry that the Fleetwood Mac brand had to be watered down this way. It's a cheap shot, but what else could we expect?

I really do believe we will get a farewell tour with the Rumours line up in tact--assuming they are all on the right side of the dirt

Somehow I doubt Billy ever got an audition. Anyway, he’s having some health issues right now. He’s apparently in the hospital, so I doubt he could do it.

Yep! i dont believe for one second, that LB got fired due to tour conflicts.. The whole band is holding back the truth, until we hear Lindsey's side.. This is nothing more than a cover up...

Default Stevie's checkmate move?

this is what someone shared with me as an example of some of the typical posts in SN groups - i thought i'd put it up for discussion here, since there's a lot to unpack:

There were a lot of people who hated it when Christine and Lindsey along with the rest of the Mac put out an album that didn’t include Stevie. She didn’t want it and they did. This time around he didn’t want to tour and they did. I’d say Stevie pulled a checkmate move at the end of the day.

She's in, he's out, the fans suffer.

Call it a "checkmate move" if you like, there doesn't seem to be much to unpack...

that statement by a Stevie worshiper says it plain and simple: getting Lindsey fired was Stevie’s revenge because of Buckingham McVie.

which is what various Stevie worshiping fans have been disputing in every. single. thread. on here. but they say it in SN groups.

but i agree, there's not much to unpack to that statement, and probably just a bit more than that in this whole situation.

Default Where to say it?

A million threads, which one to pick.
So I'll just say it here.

I don't know how anyone that calls
themselves a Fleetwood Mac fan can
go and see them on this upcoming tour.

They're are not the Green, Buckingham
Nicks version of the band. Not even the
very much inferior band that put out BTM
and Time.

Just a bunch of rich old wrinkled up has-beens.
And with those ticket prices I figure they must
be charging by the wrinkle.

"Meet and greet" my a$$, more like "Meet and reek". So shameless.

Mi˘k thought Peter Green was absolutely nuts for refusing royalty money but, whatever his mental state, Peter had more integrity in his little finger than any of these oldies tour has-beens.
