Default Patty Griffin

As most of you know, her new CD was released today. The Barnes & Noble edition has 2 bonus tracks, so I plan to get mine there this week. Just wanted to give a heads up that Patty's supposed to be performing on Letterman this Thursday 2/8 (reshced. from tonight.) Tour dates are slowly trickling in too.

Thanks Paula. I was excited to see she is actually playing in San Diego. I've never seen her but I will in March. I hate the venue (believe it or not it's an old bank converted to a concert venue) but it should be a good show!

^ me too. They'd better have it in stock.

New tour dates are being added to her site almost daily. Looks like she'll be swinging back east in April, so I'm crossing my fingers.

^ B&N had it - on sale too! My best Buy never has Patty. Bastards.

Anyway - I only got a few songs into it on the way back to work, but ITA. Trapeze? I could cry. I may cry. Emmylou on harmony. Jesus.

The sample of that song on ITunes gave me instant chills.
I think I might have to buy the tickets to see her at the Catalyst.

Picked the cd up today. Wow! Trapeze is great but there is something about Heavenly Day that keeps me hitting the repeat button. Is there a single released? and wonder what she'll sing on Letterman?

^ Heavenly Day was the song they leaked out first, I believe. I like that one too. Shoot, I like 'em all. Some standout tracks for me, right now:

Trapeze - I can't talk anough about the harmonies. God. Incredible. And like Carrie said, the ending. "Hallelujah...hallelujah...hallelujah!" Chills. Bonus points for joining Stevie in the "I can put the word 'trapeze' in a song" club. It's a very elusive club, she should be proud. Since Patty's actually titled the song "trapeze" she's obviously now the club president.

Stay on the Ride: I dare you not to dance to this tune. It amazes me that this little redheaded white lady can be so damn bluesy and do it so well. I don't know if "bluesy" is the right word, though. Reminds me of an old Jame Brown song or something. Her vocal just soars. "You need a name, I'm gonna give you a name, and I said no you won't, I said no you won't OOOOOAAAAAHHHHH!!!"

No Bad News: Classic Patty Griffin. Mainly just her & an acoustic guitar. Reminds me a lot of Truth No. 2.

Someone Else's Tomorrow: Haunting. That is all.
