I wouldd not class I Heard it Through the Grapevine as a blues song . Soul -surely ?

This is fabulous ! I bet Peter himself loves it (assuming he's heard it )after all he always says he likes pt 2 better than pt1, which was only a way of getting to pt2 ,so a classical way off getting to part 2 would suit very well !
Also I think Peter and Danny's guitar sounds closely resemble the sound of the cello, especialy on this (not the classic riff bit , but the" doo dee- dee doo -doodee phrase bit ! )despite being prodiced by over driven valve amps!

I'm not sure of what you mean with " doo dee- dee doo -doodee" but I intended it with 0:28-o:43 segment.
I found very interesting this take because it represented very well the original version from the 2:15 mark.

Yep I mean the 0.28 to 0.40 section -the very" bright " cello(s)¬sound (s) almost like an overdriven electric guitar to me .
