Default Good news?

Hello Holly73,

would you please be so kind to tell us some news about your Peter Green CD-Box? When will it be published? Which songs it will contain?

Thanx,
Popmuseum

Oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no....
This is baaaaaaaaad...........
Not ONE prev. unreleased song! Not one.........

Who the HELL do they think are going to buy this?!?!

People unfamiliar with Peter's music would buy a greatest hits CD.. not a 4CD set!!!
This box will mainly interest long-time Peter Green fans, and we ALREADY HAVE ALL THIS!
Come on ..... a 4CD box set with no unreleased stuff???
It's just too stupid.. I can't look at it no more. What a crappy job Union Square Music and Holly have done!!

This is just sooooo sad.....
Peter Green deserves so much better than this.

Yes. - At least there a two double-CDs with this kind of compilation:

*) Peter Green: Supernatural. (2 CDs, 2007),
*) Peter Green: Man of the World. The Anthology 1968-88. (2 CDs, 2004)

"Compiled with the help of Peter Green himself". Too bad!

Thanks Holly
"... I can't post the final tracklist yet, as we've only just started licensing, but will keep you all posted". This answer doesn't seem (to be) true.

On one hand...this is the first compilation with material from
all the record companies. "Man of the World" etc. didn't have any official
CBS material.
On the other hand, NO unreleased material, as you all say. And what's up with the track order? Looks like they just put together this at random. "Momma dontcha cry" next to "Underway"?? As much as some of us like the PVK material, most of it can't sit next to the classics.

Exclamation

Their loss, they don't get prev unreleased stuff for it then they don't get our money.

Kinda glad in one sense there wasn't ONE prev unreleased track as I didn't think this set would be this big and therfore, this wouldn't have been cheap and there's nothing worse than having to buy a big box set like this for one or a couple/few tracks, so this is money wel saved.

TRUE!
One unreleased track, and I would have bought it!
Now, lets all boycott this.

Default heavy heart

Dear folks,

Lets be cheerfull about this. They are releasing a four CD set about Peter Green. It spans his carreer, to date (more or less). It has some real good music in it. It is not the difinitive collection.. I dare anyone to make a four CD set that has everything you like about Peter Green, I have no doubt in my mind that there are plenty of hurdles around with useage rights and how much people want for them. Look how long it has been for people we know who have unreleased stuff sitting there. If you threw in PVK, CBS, Clifford Davis, The family of Peter Green, Peter Green, BMI ASCAP, The British Government, Homeland Security and Osama Bin Ladins driver all together, I bet you could have a field day figuring out who made a cost saving compromise. To come in with enough money to even make a limited run. Really how many of us Peter Green crazies are there anyway?

i'm really disappointed too,i've got all this already. but i agree with vinnie c. there is a lot to be thankful for.

if peter gets royalties from this we should all buy it because face it, we love the guy. with the proceeds pete can buy paint, new guitar, take a trip to visit his family, or whatever his heart desires. zero

Beuatiful package...if this has nice liner notes I might be tempted into buying it, despite the 100% previously released quota.
Who knows what legal difficulties were involved in putting together this,
but they could at least have included the rare early 70's solo singles.

Alas, for Green God's sake!, he had at least one to many yet.

Wow, dino - those are exactly my thoughts about this release! I'm sure it wasn't easy getting the licensing to include tracks from so many sources, but it would have been so nice if they could have gone a step farther than they did. Oh well.....

I'd also love to see the booklet with liner notes and photos but buying this set new will probably be pricey so I'll wait awhile and see what it sells for used.

Yes, the idea behind this track order is very hard to understand. It is (almost) like all the titles have been thrown up in the air and have been entered just as they fell down.
Does anyone know if there is any explanation for this in the sleeve notes - maybe? I think it is almost blasphemous (hope this is spelled right!) and certainly disrespectful to the works of music. Disc 3 would be particularly hard to listen to - as you mention, dino - emotionally it would be like being in a tumble-dryer.

The pictures on the discs seems well-known, so what about the "previously never published photographs"? Hopefully they are in the booklet?

Ms Moose
