I'm listening to "Tom Dooley" by The Kingston Trio.

And my cat is whining in my ear. Don't ask me why but my cat is very anti-vinyl. I can play an MP3 on my phone or computer and she doesn't notice or care but she scowls at my record player and gets all upset. How weird is that? Lol.

I am not really a fan of Patti Smith. I think she is the most overrated rock star there is. However, that being said, I do like album Horses, the song Because the Night and this song, Dancing Barefoot. This song is very Concrete Blonde to me, and it is my favorite from her.

Agreed! I just don't understand the appeal of most if her music, although I do enjoy her poetry. The songs you mentioned are good, although Springsteen wrote all except for like two lines of Because the Night (which is probably why I like it). I also like "Till Victory" and "ghost dance" from Easter.

I'm on an Abba binge. I got some 1970 Bjorn & Benny thing and some early Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad and am trying to feel better after this nasty Trayvon Martin business. Love the song "Our Last Summer".

I've tried to get into Patti, and know she's 'important' and a pillar of the NYC scene, but it's like Bruce Springsteen or Sinead O'Connor, I like the politics yet just don't connect to the music much.

She basically known for the cover Gloria and Because the Night, which was mostly written by Springsteen. I think the idea of Patti Smith, punk - poet is a hell of alot more appealing than the real thing.

Yes, I have. It is not as good as Pattie's but it is still good, the pacing is little slower. That's about one of the only compliments she'll get from me.

I'm listening to a lot of vinyl. My poor CDs have been largely ignored for months.

I'm listening to some CDs I made from vinyl.

I went from Abba on to Badfinger in hono(u)r of a new set of Pete Ham demos that just arrived in the mail. Some really amazing stuff if low-fi.

My turntable and stereo system is back in business as of today, so I listened to Buckingham Nicks Linda Ronstadt's Heart Like a Wheel tonight. It was nice to just savor the experience of listening to a record, without distractions, once again.
