FM Concert Date needed
I have a question for the MAC historians here at The Ledge.
I have received a CD from a concert at Winston-Salem where the date is recorded as 11-20-75. One of the songs played was "Go Your Own Way". Now is this date correct because it seems very early for the MAC to be playing this song, I would have thought that the recording took place in 76?????? Can anyone validate the date of the concert.

The date isn't listed in the Tourbooks section of the Penguin (although that section is a HUGE help to tour dates...
Yes, it's '75. They opened their '75 shows with Get Like You Used To Be. They opened their '76 shows with Say You Love Me. Winston-Salem opened with GLYUTB. -Brian

On a completely different note...
... I just downloaded from Audiogalaxy a very powerful, rocking live version of "Hold Me"... which starts with a Lindsey introduction: "this is... this was the first single from the Mirage album and... this is one of my favorites... a song of Chris's, it's called 'Hold Me'"... I assume (duh) that it's from the Mirage tour, but could anyone give me the date for this one?

He pretty much said that on all his Hold Me introductions lol... Either that or "I think this is one hell of a song..." Sorry, but need more info.

It just seemed weird that GYOW was played live this early.

Um......lol
I have 11 Mirage shows, and the criteria is still pretty much the same throughout the shows. I'd say there's not much of a way to know where it came from. On another note, the Oh Well where Lindsey screws up, it's from the Mirage Rehearsals for anyone who's interested. -Brian

getting back to GYOW
Yes...they were doing "Go Your Own Way" as early as November of 1975. I saw them Thanksgiving night 1975 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium....Lindsey introduced a new song as "this is the first time we've ever played this song in public...we haven't given it an official title yet, see what you think..."
And they proceeded to play what would become "Go Your Own Way". I saw them a few times subsequently to that when they DIDN'T play it (most of those times were when they were playing gigs as an opening act), then in May 1976 at University Of California Santa Barbara (where they filmed the outdoor concert footage for "Rosebud"), they played "Go Your Own Way" again (and everytime I saw them after that, they've played it...whether Lindsey was in the band or not) |
