Default Rooms on Fire

Im surprised to hear Stevie say that she's considering performing this song on the 24k tour. A few years ago, a Ledgie asked Waddy about it and he said Stevie had pretty firmly stated that she was never going to do it again. I wonder what changed her mind?

Maybe it's because she loves The Other Side of the Mirror, she's always said it's her last very good album from before Trouble In Shangri-La.

Maybe Waddy was speaking more for himself, because I have a feeling he dislikes the song, not Stevie! I have a hard time understanding the context in which she would say that- is it unusually hard to sing, is it not a crowd pleaser, is it too emotional for her, etc.? It went over very well during her Street Angel tour, and it doesn't seem technically like a hard song to perform, and many of her songs are emotional or from the heart, so I can't imagine why she would say that. But if she did, she obviously changed her mind!

"Rooms on fire" was her final single to chart in the top 20 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart, peaking at #16, and also peaked at #1 on Billboard's top Rock Songs chart.
I'm glad it's returning to the set.
The last time I heard her perform it was on her very short millenium tour in 1999/2000.
I saw the show twice. Once at the House of Blues in Los Angeles, and again at a small theater in Anaheim, California.
Steven Spielberg was in attendance at the Anaheim show.
I LOVED the guy doing percussion during these shows.

No, it was pretty obvious that Stevie was the one with the aversion to it. Something about it reminding her of a bad time in her life.

Interviews are just snapshots of what people are feeling at the time they are being asked. Waddy's interpretation at that time may not be what Stevie actually felt, or what she feels now about the song.

IF Stevie has bad memories of this song, it could have something to do with her soured relationship with Rupert Hine, since this song was about him anyway. I hope and pray that whenever she releases her autobiography that we will FINALLY find out what happened between them. Nevertheless, I'm excited that she's bringing this one back out, as it is a personal favorite

I always thought it would make a killer opening song, with a long instrumental intro to build anticipation.

YES! I agree! I believe this is how the song was presented when she performed it on the Street Angel tour...

I subscribe to the theory that he brought cocaine into the studio.
