Help guys - my wife and I don't agree on what he means by "touring until next Christmas" - does he mean Christmas 2016, or this year??

Jamie

LOL - it's the .01% that's confusing. In the same paragraph he specifically says "this coming Christmas" and "next Christmas". Hence, the confusion.

They still have to travel. They still have to rehearse. They still have press interviews.
In his interview with Larry King Lindsey says touring isn't physically hard. The video is in the LB forum.

I see what you mean...

Having read it again though- he talks about formulating plans for completing the album 'after this coming Christmas' after he mentions 'touring until next Christmas'.

...therefore I'm now 100% sure its touring until Christmas 2015!

yes, SN has repeatedly said in interviews, when talking about telling Christine to get a trainer etc, how physically demanding the tour is for all of them. while LB has been very clear, especially in that last Larry King interview, that touring is not physically demanding for him at all.

when asked how long he thinks he will be doing this, LB said that as of right now he sees no end to it - releasing new music, playing and touring. that he plays better than ever, is inspired and writing new music, and is physically in great shape. and as far as FM goes, that physically, he thinks Mick and he can do it easily for many many years, but he's not sure about the other 3.

so it's different for different band members, it's just that Stevie tends to generalize whatever she thinks or feels to the rest of the band, whether or not what may be true for her also applies to others.

Five songs for Christine? Don't get ahead of yourself. Maybe 4 and a bonus track.

Physically, Christine looks to be in better shape than Mick to me. But she may not have the resolve he has to do it forever.

Mick's interview had me laughing. Oh, stop slagging Tony Bennett, man.

The real reason they're stalling to put out the new album besides the touring?...Keep in mind that the 50th anniversary of the band is approaching, in 2017. That's when they'll put out the album, most likely along with some type of new compilation package. That would be smart marketing.

Yeah, that would make sound business sense...if a little hard-nosed.
Lets hope its worth the l-o-n-g wait.
I'm sure it will be.....

Surely it would make more sense to put out a new album in 2016 (with a tour to promote it) and then a 'Fleetwood Mac: Gold' album in 2017 (with a tour).

Well, several times in interviews, Lindsey has said there were eight songs she and he worked on together. In addition to his songs, so I'm imagining she may have even more than five. But yes, I'd be happy with four!

But we know not everything they worked on is going to make the cut. Like for SYW, didn't Stevie say she gave him 16 songs to work on? And for the EP he did a bunch of songs and they only used a fraction.

And thus touring for 5 years straight? I'm not sure how much sense that makes.

(apart from Stevie, perhaps) Fleetwood Mac want to be active. If they wait until 2017 to put out an album it would mean 1016 would be fallow. Better to get 'the product' out in 2016. They'd need to promote it- not necessarily a huge tour like the present one. Then they could milk the 50 year anniversary/ 40 year Rumours anniversary with a compilation package (including some more new material) in 2017.

Why not tour 5 years straight- whats the problem?
