XXL News

Riff Raff meets Nardwuar—this was bound to happen. The Vancouver, British Columbia interview specialist pinpoints the eccentric Houston rapper’s love for Bon Jovi, Fleetwood Mac, his past in Houston, the aesthetic of his beard, and other oddities. Check out the hilarious video, in which Riff Raff throws around wads of cash, and acts strange as usual. —Jaeki Cho (@JaekiCho)

I've posted about this up and coming sister trio before. Hailing from L.A. they're getting a lot more gigs and huge reviews. Definitely look out for them in the future!

Check out their newest song below..the girls are said to sound like FM circa Tango era..and LOVE Lindsey..you can hear his influence on the below track. They play Oh Well in concert and did Hold Me for the recent Tribute album

It wasn't till the late '70s, after he had spent five years in John Denver's Aspen-based band, that Steve Weisberg began to see that his former boss was sort of cool. Weisberg was backstage at a John Denver gig at Los Angeles' Universal Amphitheatre when Christine McVie, from Fleetwood Mac, asked Weisberg who he was. When Weisberg said he had been in Denver's group, McVie — who was on top of the pop world at the time, just after the release of Fleetwood Mac's “Rumours” album — was impressed.

“She said, ‘Oh, I love John.' And I said, ‘You? You're too cool for that,'” Weisberg recalled. “I didn't understand how cool John was. He told corny jokes that would make me cringe.”

Back in the '70s, Weisberg would watch as models and actors scrambled to get front-row tickets to Denver's concerts. He couldn't quite grasp the attraction.

“I used to be surprised when a musician who was really hip would show up backstage. One thing John wasn't is hip,” Weisberg said. “Paul Simon was hip. James Taylor was hip. John Denver was sweet and sincere.”

^This is really nice. Thanks for posting. Not a Denver fan myself, but glad to hear her praise.

From Lauren Cohan Interview, GQ Magazine
November 19, 2012, BY Anthony Saladino

http://www.gq.com/entertainment/tv/b...king-dead.html

GQ: Can you do Stevie Nicks?

Lauren Cohan: Yes! Oh my god, she's my number one! I just saw the other night, there was a reunion with her and Lindsay Buckingham on MTV and I cried watching it. One of my really good friends in New York is a musician and looks just like Lindsay Buckingham. We always fancied ourselves the nice Fleetwood Mac [laughs].

Fleetwood Mac

Photographer norman seeff rented a beautiful Malibu home overlooking the Pacific to shoot Fleetwood Mac for their 1979 album, Tusk. “They were like kids in a sandbox, having fun,” Seeff recalls. “But they also knew exactly what they were doing. They understood that by being spontaneous they would capture something they wouldn’t get if they were more controlled.” As the wine began to flow, the band became more rambunctious. “They were teasing one another, challenging each other, and being competitive in a playful way,” says Seeff. “At one point John McVie grabbed Stevie Nicks and carried her off into the smoke coming from a smoke machine.” Seeff says he’s seen similar chemistry in only a handful of groups. “Each had a strong, sharply defined personality,” he explains, “and yet when they interacted there was amazing synergy. No bad vibes, just a fascinating sense of intimacy.” Several years later Seeff did a solo session with Nicks, who recalled the Tusk shoot vividly. “She described it as mystical and magical,” he says, “a beautiful experience.”

I don't know how the Stones or the Eagles act together, but watching the five Macsters does seem magical to me, even if the interaction is not as extraordinary as I imagine it to be -- but I think it is.

[loved them saying that SHN was "molesty"]

http://www.nuvo.net/indianapolis/men...nt?oid=2535237

Excerpt from a Menomena interview

NUVO: If you could play some romantic songs what would they be?

Seim: I wish I would have done research. Okay, two love jams that we're going to cover, huh? Well I just was told about this Fleetwood Mac re-release and it's one of my favorite albums of all-time. So I've been reading a lot about the recording of that. So how about two Fleetwood Mac songs? How about 'Dreams?' If we could play or sing or do what they did, I probably should do 'Dreams,' then. I guess 'Second Hand News' is about laying down in the tall grass and letting me do my stuff. That's kind of molesty, actually. We'll just pick any two random Fleetwood Mac songs and I'm sure they're probably about love. I'll just make sure to do as much cocaine as possible to replicate the era in which they were played.

Menomena, Guards at The Bishop, February 14. Doors at 8:30 p.m. $12-$14, 18+.

Queen voted top band to spend 15 minutes with

Queen have been voted the top band the UK would most want to spend 15 minutes with.

The 'We Are The Champions' rockers topped a survey conducted by Virgin Media, who announced the launch of their new channel Vintage TV, after receiving a majority of votes from the British public.

Richard Wheeler, head of content acquisition at Virgin Media, said: "Queen still proves the show must go on as the UK continues to enjoy some of the best songs from the last century on Vintage TV."

Shortly behind the music legends - fronted by the late Freddie Mercury - comes David Bowie, who recently released his first album in a decade, 'The Next Day'.

The top five is completed by soul sensation Stevie Wonder, whose hits include 'Superstitious' and 'Isn't She Lovely', 'Little Lies' musicians Fleetwood Mac and British rockers Oasis.

Vintage TV will show a range of original music programmes and concert footage, as well as full-length interview features, 'rockumentaries' and music news bulletins.

Virgin Media's top ten bands Brits would most like to spend 15 minutes with are: 1. Queen 2. David Bowie 3. Stevie Wonder 4. Fleetwood Mac 5. Oasis 6. Bryan Adams 7. ELO 8. Joy Division 9. Don Mclean 10. The Undertones
