Night Watch

I’m resurrecting this thread because today I once again blasted “Night Watch” and thought about what an incredible achievement it is. The writing, the instrumentation, the harmonies, the extensive production...it’s the centerpiece of an underrated record. But man, what a centerpiece!

Green gets all kinds of kudos for his far-echo guitar but Weston’s work is equally effective and responsible for driving the song to its climax. I also love the choral vocals that follow the final sonic blast, four-hundred Christines and Bob Welches layering a mysterious texture over the propulsive African drum.
