Default Who has been the oldest rocker on the road?

If Fleetwood Mac goes on the road, let's say in 2011. Stevie would be 63. Mick would be 64. If they are in good shape, that's ok. But they are getting older and the challenge of a tour is stronger every new day.

Who has been the oldest rocker, pop singer, or band that has been on the road? Mick Jagger was 64 during the Bigger Bang tour in 2007. Will they tour again? Probably.
Paul McCartney has made appeareances even this year, at 67, but that's single dates, not an entire tour.

do you know about rockers touring at their 70s? or more?

The Rolling Stones are fairly ancient, though not in their 70's.

BB King is 83 and still plays ~100 dates a year. Ditto Buddy Guy, who's 72.

Ian Hunter turns 70 next week, and he still writes/records/tours.

Tina Turner is 69 and seems to have thrice the energy of La Nicks of late.

I have the distinct feeling they are done, at least in the terms of a large-scale tour. I'd put the over/under on forthcoming RS shows at 10.

Bob Dylan is 68 (though you'd think he was 88)

John Fogerty turned 64 yesterday, and he's still a firecracker onstage.

Then there's also David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Blondie, the B52's, etc... all pushing (or above) 60. It seems to me that when you are able to tour in style, touring is probably not that bad at all. You get to stay in luxurious suites, fly in private jets or 1st class, eat sumptuous meals, get massages, receive top notch healthcare, ride in limos, etc. It probably beats the heck out of working 9-5 every day!

she is not a pure rocker but Tina is great, a blues and later pop singer, full of energy, she rocks. I mean, her performance are not exactly like the Andrea Bocelli's shows. That was my point when I started this thread. Not including kind of opera singers, but pop or rock ones.

I think it's exhausting to sleep in a different hotel/city every day, even in king size bed in suites, but yes what you mention could make the tour more bearable. Besides perfomances must be more "in style". Like Rhiannon performance since The Dance. It´s stil classic but no more of that lot of energy, screams, etc.

It's probably wonderful if you feel good to begin with. But I guess if you don't feel good (a cold or a flu or a slipped disc or a bacterial invasion or a hitch in yer gitalong), having to hustle yourself from town to town is probably hell.

Oh, undoubtedly.
