Unhappy LB - east coast tour dates

bunch of sites (including his own) announced it by now but i'll go with the first one i saw - http://mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=153101

LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM HEEDS THE CALL OF HIS EAST COAST FANS DEMANDING THEIR SHARE OF HIS FORTHCOMING U.S. TOUR

MORE DATES NOW ADDED AS TREK BEGINS MAY 3

April 12, 2012 -- Due to overwhelming demand, LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM will now be sharing his highly anticipated U.S. tour with his fans on the East coast. The six-week trek begins May 3 in Solana Beach, CA and now lasts through June 16 in Columbus, OH. As for the rest of the country, they need not worry either, because even more tour dates are in the works and will be announced in the coming weeks.

In his intimate-one-man show, Lindsey will showcase his distinctive guitar picking style and instantly recognizable voice in his usual awe-inspiring form, captivating his audience with songs from his recent album, SEEDS WE SOW, as well as performing a combination of favorites from his previous solo albums, along with a variety of Fleetwood Mac classics.

Regarding the new tour he says, "As I've grown as an artist, I've gotten more and more in touch with my center, and that center is voice and guitar. Over time it has become increasingly vital to express more with less; that is my touchstone now, and the embodiment of that philosophy is what will be largely represented in the new show. I've been thinking of doing this kind of tour for a while, and am quite excited to be doing something new, something outside my comfort zone."

I can only laugh - he finally added DC date - on the exact date that i'm out of town!

and, he'll be in Baltimore on the day i'm back but have an early evening obligation that i can't miss..... but - i can make some of the show probably - and a meet & greet if he would bother adding any!?!?!

of course, after the first 3 announced east coast dates, there doesn't seem any others with added meet and greets.

i know.

although have to give his team a lot of credit this time around - for both rounds of dates they announced and sent out the complete list of dates to various news outlets way before venues or promoters posted them. first east coast dates were announced by 2 venues mon-tue this week and today is only 2 days later and we got complete list of 16 east coast dates.

No, instead we get two dates at a place in tourist central where we are squeezed into tiny unreserved tables and forced to buy terrible food and drinks and still sit the entire show while the whole room talks because it's full of tourists who only came after tickets to some Broadway show weren't available and they know a Fleetwood Mac song.

I always thought BBKings would be a good venue for Lindsey, but--after the last time I went--I kind of changed my mind.
It's challenging. They do overstuff people in there and, in spite of your position on line, it's really up to the greeters where they are going to seat you. Next to no leg room at a table of strangers, usually.
And, while I don't think anyone can force you to buy food or drinks--people ARE eating throughout the performance (with waiters/waitresses serving, people trying to pull out lighters to actually SEE their checks in the dark, etc).
I'm going but there are other places (including "stuffy" Town Hall) I'd rather see him in.

No, it's true that BB Kings is not a great place for a concert. An evening show sure (I saw Neil Innes there), but probably not great for a concert. I just thought it was nice to have a change from Town Hall.

Oh, and depending on the provisions of the tickets, they CAN force you to buy food...

You are forced to buy food, is my recollection. And yes eating and ordering and paying bills during the performance can be annoying. I'm less worried about my enjoyment than Lindsey's patience Two of my alltime favorite art experiences EVER were at bb kings (both times: Iris Dement) but I don't know if Lindsey will be able to handle the indignity.

ETA: I remember the last time I went, my friend's wife tried to order vegetables--ANYTHING green--and they were like: "We don't have anything like that." LOL

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

It's a $10 food and beverage minimum. That's probably just enough for one watered down cocktail.

I think it's kinda sad to see Lindsey playing his heart out in front of an audience of people gorging out on skirt steak. Has it really come to this? I can think of a gazillion better places- The Knitting Factory, Bowery Ballroom, Williamsburg Music Hall, BAM, etc., where you're not going to have to strain to hear him over the sounds of people slurping and belching.

I THINK the artist gets a cut of the food money, so...
