Favorite Performance of Rhiannon?
Hi all! I was wondering what everyone's favorite performance of Rhiannon is. There are a few that I absolutely love, and I need more to listen to! Mine has to be one from the Rock A Little tour in Poplar Creek/Chicago in 1986. I absolutely love it at the end when she practically starts yelling "Dram on, silly dreamer! You still cry out for her!"

Hands down, the Sin City bootleg, which was Las Vegas, 1977. I have never heard any other version that has come close. Whenever I make mix CDs, I always include that version. She absolutely shreds the high notes.

The 1976 Midnight Special version! It was the first SN/FM performance I saw and I rewatch it all the time!

I like the one from the Fleetwood Mac Live album from 1980. I think because it's the first time I'd heard it done live and I was so captivated by how different it was than the album version and how intense it gets at the end. I know she hits the high notes in the earlier versions but the ending seemed so much more intense once she developed that deeper vocal range during the Tusk era.

New Orleans 1975. It's a vocal-shredding beast.

The Midnight Special version of Rhiannon. Vocally and visually a treat. If I was to ever introduce someone to Stevie Nicks, that is the video I would show them.

We tend to prefer the performances we saw. In my case, that was the Inglewood (CA) Forum, October 1983. My recording was very bad, thanks to a dying battery, but the romanticism of the performance was the most potent I ever experienced, even during an era of very fine Rhiannons. When Nicks sang "Did you see her? Over there?" again and again during the outro, it reminded me of Glenn Goins conjuring up the mothership at a P-Funk concert—it had that kind of slow-burn spirituality. (Nicks was probably as high as a kite that evening.)

There are! It's one of those songs I've really grown to appreciate in their varied interpretations. I really like the '94 House of Blues Westwood 1 studio dub, '98 Enchanted performances, and the '12 Heart & Soul ones were good too!

Wow.... NOW THIS is a tough one. There are so many versions out there. SpyNote picked one that came to my head right away too. That House of Blues version in 1994 is pretty good. Love the intro on that one. I loved when she added the piano intro on the White Winged Dove tour. I think the live album version is flawless.
But here is one version that is going to surprise and rock everyone. I think the Whole Lotta Trouble tour version is really cool for several reasons: Its a full rock version... no piano intro.....and first live tour performance with 2 guitarists. Les Dudek knocks it out of the park with full rock performance. I also love the intensity of "will you take me with you's" at the end. There are very FEW klonopin performances that are noteworthy. But this is one of them. Vocally very strong......she has intensity at the end.....and full rock performance. Very cool and definitely one of my favorites. She is right on the money on this one. Also love the "your life wonders why's." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xK9iSdWRQmQ Last edited by Macfan4life; 07-31-2015 at 07:24 AM.. |

I'm not a collector of live bootlegs, though I do have the occasional song in my iTunes. I love the Seven Wonders from Fresno 1987, and wish it were better quality.
