"Me copying Paula" or "Like or Dislike: The Divinyls' 'I Touch Myself'"
I just caught a snippet of VH-1's "Awesomely Bad Dirty Songs" and this song was somewhere in the twenties. I was pissed off that it was on their countdown. I just think it's catchy, the vocals are really sexy, and I like how's in-your-face. Also, I had a really hot red-headed history teacher last semester and I used to jokingly frolic around in my dorm room singing this song and thinking of her.
So, what do y'all think? |

I like this song a lot--I think her voice is sexy on it and I think it brings up a topic that not many people used to talk about but which I think is important--female sexuality and, er...self-stimulation, . Hey, at least we don't have to worry about getting pregnant, right?! I think it's a great song in it's own right too--catchy, gritty, whatevs.

Love the song and the group. I saw them at a small club in San Diego early on and still have my "Thunda from Down Unda" button they gave out at the door. I never understood why they didn't make it big here - Christina Amphlett is a stage presence on her own. Talk about energy. Their early stuff still stands the test of time.

This song never fails to bring a smile to my face, and after probably a million listens I'm still not tired of it.
I worked at a record store when it came out, and it literally flew off the shelves week after week. But they wouldn't let us play it in the store, even though anyone could turn on the radio at any point in the day and hear it. But it's a shame this is the Divinyls biggest song - it's certainly not their best. But I guess it's that way with most groups... |

Well, based on what some of you are saying, I think maybe I should go and get a CD of theirs!

Oh, I found the list here--http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/40_most...ountdown.jhtml Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" was #1! Michael Bolton's "Can I Touch You There" was #4. I think it would've been a good candidate for the #1 spot. That song grosses me out. |

I really, really hate this song. Only Lene Lovich and Gwen Stefani can pull off the nasaly vocals, man.

I like it OK, but I prefer one of their other tunes - can't recall the name - "Hey Little Boy" maybe?
