Round 1 Eliminations: Mystery to Me (Part 1)
This is the seventh poll for the Fleetwood Mac Song Contest (1970-1974), which is the Penguin album. I changed the post title to "Eliminations" to make things clearer.
***Reminder that you will vote for which songs should not be included in the definitive list of songs for this era.*** Poll closes in 4 days.

This one was tough. Truth is that even songs I like, I'm not sure I would call them definitive. I voted for one ("Keep On Going") but not another ("Emerald Eyes") ... maybe I should've thought about it more ...

Hypnotized and Emerald Eyes are the only standouts for me. The rest are sub-par.

The best on side one, for me, are the Welch tunes. Hypnotized, Emerald Eyes, and Keep on Going (the best IMO). But both the Christine songs are tight and strong.

Bob Welch shines on this album.. Christine has some gems as well..

Well, I don't want to be "the renegade", but as I know Bob Welch and Christine have very interesting and good songs here, I want to save the only (and sadly, last) work of Bob Weston in FM: Forever. It's funny, it's rare, it's so unusual, but it's not a bad song. The only two BW songs are so, so, so underrated I think...

Agreed on both Bobs.
And I think Hypnotized and Emerald Eyes(very STRANGE, I never noticed before, how much the titles sound alike) are the best two songs on MTM. Chris was well on her way, but hadn't quite hit her songwriting stride, yet(with the obvious exception of Why).

Nop...After all the songs in Penguin and MTM, I think that he really "sounded" perfectly in Did you ever love me? where at least he sang... But, Caught in the Rain is his solo work. Forever is the another one, but was written with Bob Welch, and John. So, Forever won't be a song for a Definitive Collection, but is not a bad song. Emerald Eyes and Hypnotized are THE songs from this album!!! Regards |

So um... We all agree that Hypnotized is the best song on the album?
