1971 Beat Club "Dragonfly" on DVD
I noticed that the “Dragonfly” clip from that 1971 German “Beat club” episode (which
was also used in the 1995 BBC FM documentary “Rock family trees”) is on this DVD collection of other clips from those same Beat Club shows http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_ite...item_id=551748 I recognize many of the others from when Peter Noone’s “My generation” show was on VH1 (and when MTV used to have “Closet classics capsule”). So this must be the real deal and not one of those VHS copied things like “I want my DVD”. I see they have the “Man of the world” Beat Club clip we’ve seen everywhere on this DVD as well: http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_ite...item_id=551749 ...if that’s of any interest. I don’t know if I’ll bother with the “Wild thing...” one but I might get the “Get it on...” one since that’s a live performance (even if we can’t see the Mac very well through much of it due to the groovy lighting). Can anyone describe this Dragonfly performance? Is this with the Bob Welch/Future Games line-up? Was it from a live concert or television show?
I see this DVD's on order now. I may order this after it's in stock again. Has anyone ever ordered anything from this vendor? I've never heard of them although they're in PA. |

I just decided to get mine from Amazon they don't have a tracklisting over there on their page for it though, I just used this link since this was the vendor page that came up when I Googled it and they had the tracklisting so you could see), hopefully it'll show up soon since it was only released last November and I can report back here on quality, though they also have that vague wording about "you'll get it when we get it" so I'm not optimistic about it showing up soon.
It's just live in the stuido (FG/BT line up) so the sound is the best part of it. You can't really see them much in it because they use all of this psychedelic lighting throughout it. The part when you can see them best is at the end and that part was used in the BBC documenntary. John Last edited by wetcamelfood; 07-25-2004 at 01:40 PM.. |

Fyi
Just checking back in on this one. Just got it today in the mail and skimmed through it and it looks fine, no evidence of it being burnt from VHS or anything.
