Bella Donna
I have been obsessed (and I mean obsessed) with
Bella Donna (title track) How Still My Love Kind of Woman Wild Heart If Anyone Falls Sable On Blonde Nightbird Beauty and Beast (that's my little playist) Bella Donna especially. To me she writes about her life changing, drugs, fame, trying to find direction (Northern Star) trying to come in out of the darkness... It's so personal, so beautiful, and so authentic. I love love love this era. Still mad at her for various reasons, but not when this music plays. AND YOU NEVER THOUGHT IT COULD!!!!!!!!

For years and years, The Wild Heart has been my least favorite solo album (yes, even behind Street Angel! ), but the reissue has been in my car since release day.
Some songs formerly considered clunkers imho ("Nothing Ever Changes", "Gate & Garden", "I Will Run To You") have started to grow on me...

My favorite lines: And the woman may be so awestruck and the woman may truly care.. but the woman is so tired...... so the woman disappears......come in out of the darkness No speed limit.....This is the fast lane....it's just the way that it is here And the lady if feeling like the moon that she loves Don't you know that the stars are part of us I also like the beginning about the trapeze and pony and she calls it phony. To me she is calling out the glory hounds in life and how unauthentic people are in this life.

I think also the phony part is somewhat autobiographical. Not that she's calling herself phony in a bad way. She's just saying that "you'll never scare me, because I know you." Also, agree it's a nod to fame.. and the attributes of being famous.
She's being very real about it.

Bella Donna makes me cry. :'(
I never paid much attention to this album until the re-release, and man, is this album BEAUTIFUL... My top: 1. Think About It 2. Bella Donna 3. Outside The Rain 4. The Highwayman 5. Edge of Seventeen The order may seem strange but I can really relate to these first 4. Last edited by twinmatrix; 12-10-2016 at 05:22 PM.. |
