Default Nobody's Daughter: Hole

Am I the only stoked about this album? I've heard the songs on youtube and I'm soo excited. My favorite song is Pacific Coast Highway. Finally, some real rock from a female singer.

I'm trying not to listen to any of it until I actually get it. I LURV me some Hole! Uh... so to speak. And I might be one of ten people who actually really loved her solo album. And... ugh... don't get me started on Celebrity Skin- perhaps one of the few albums from the 90's that could be considered "classic." If the new album is even 1/10 as good as CS, I will be thrilled!

I LOVED the solo album, and add Live Through This to the 90's "classics"

I've downloaded the demos of most of the songs (tracklisting and sample at holerock.net), and it's truly gonna be an amazing album. It's been compared by some critics to Hotel California by the Eagles and Patti Smith's Horses. Plus, Love said it was influenced by F-Mac (can't really hear it though, maybe Tusk).

Her solo album was pretty damm good. It wasn't as good as Hole's previous 2 albums, but those things are classics. I love Hold on to Me and Mono and the cover art was as cool as hell.

P.S. Pacific Coast Highway on the new album is my favorite. I can listen to that song all day. I also like Skinny Little Bitch (available on itunes). It freaking rocks.

Here's a track-by-track review of the album.

Also, Stevie gets a mentions:

"'For Once In Your Life'
Mellow and reflective, even a little bit folky. And in waltz time. This is Courtney indulging her Stevie Nicks side. "

i saw her perform one of her songs on youtube. she sounded ok, but I was like: when will she grow up?

she should be doing mr. morphine, not these petulant songs.

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

How about Sister Morphine?...

Well it just goes to show
Things are not what they seem
Please, Sister Morphine, turn my nightmares into dreams
Oh, can't you see I'm fading fast?
And that this shot will be my last

(Rolling Stones, "Sister Morphine" from Sticky Fingers)

I'm still trying to let the "new" Pacific Coast Highway grow on me. I had been listening to the Linda Perry version for years and really grew to love it. The newly produced Hole version seems to lack some of the tenderness that was needed in this song. However, if I had never heard the old version I would probably say it's great.

I'm def. looking forward to the whole album, and I'm especially glad she left "Letter to God" alone and didn't redo it. I do wish one of my favorites from the Linda Perry sessions, "Car Crash", had made it - but never-the-less it seems like this is going to be a great album.

By the way, you can download "Samantha" (which I love), at this link for free:

Here's an interview from amazon about the album, and a nice little Stevie mentions at around 3:15

Good interview you posted. Courtney is very coherent and honest. I think what she's saying about touring a lot of artists feel that, but won't necessarily admit it (like Stevie).
