BTW, in 1986 Steve's hit Freedom Overspill I would always imagine Chris singing it. The organ and his mannerisms how he sings the song let alone they have a similar sound.

They have a similar sound on the whole, and very similar way of playing.
But Christine has a rounder more mellow voice.

I have a soft spot for Spencer Davis…
I won a little dancing competition at a local dance hall.
And the prize was a three of their singles ..

Oh, wow...talk about some names from the past. Mary Anne was super sweet. I thought of her when Christine passed and wondered if she would post here around that time.

On another note, I always thought Christine sounded similar to Barbra Streisand, minus the vibrato (if that makes any sense).

One of the reasons I loved Christine's voice so much is no one else ever reminded me of her. Ever. Other singers have similar ranges, of course, but there's a quality to her voice that was hers alone. Not being a musician or singer I don't know the vocabulary for it, but I know what I mean.

It was soothing and comforting. S&L aren't even close in those categories.

I miss her so much.

Sandy Denny sounded very similar at times. Similar timber, although a big more range and a bit more power, but she started out as a vocalist whereas Christine sort of happened into it.

I still wonder how much of a driving force Mike Vernon was in making Christine a front woman, considering she had three of Chicken Shack’s first four singles when it was Stan’s band.

I was in the car singing along to Say You Love Me in my best Christine voice and I suddenly realized I was sounding like Cher, so there might be something to this theory after all.

I was singing “All Over Again” the other day on the way to the market, and I realized I was sounding like Patti LaBelle. I think the stylistic link between those two has yet to be fully explored or even understood.

was listening this morning!! I like the intro.

While I don't think they sound alike, they both do have deep, throaty voices.

Christine voice has not changed with the time, or change a very little bit. You can recognize her in the early FM years as in Tango.

Cher voice at I Got You Babe (with Sonny) is very very different from that of Believe.
