I can agree on every one of those except SYLM. I don't care for that Dance version. So I would have to say maybe the 1976 live version. Stevie sort of ruins the Live 1980 version a bit for me. But the band is tight on that song.

Little Lies 1987 had those screeching opening keyboards that were so 80s but just echoed in the arena. Love it too!

Oh Daddy from the Rumours tour. Chris just did not have much passion on the Dance. She just looked so sad :(

The Chain (Mirage - Live at the Forum, 1982)
Sisters of the Moon (Mirage - Live at the Forum, 1982)
Stand Back (Live in Boston 2004)
Landslide (Fleetwood Mac Deluxe - Live at Jorgensen Auditorium, 10/25/1975)
Big Love (The Dance)
Silver Springs (The Dance)
Rhiannon "Is that what you want from me!!!" (Tusk Deluxe - Live At Tucson, 8/28/80)
Songbird (Tusk Deluxe Live At Wembley, 6/27/80)
Over My Head (Live)
Angel (Tusk Deluxe, Live At St. Louis, 11/5/79)
Everywhere (Tango in the night live, 1987)
Not that Funny (Mirage - Live at the Forum, 1982); as I already said it, just while enjoying a bottle of merlot on friday or saturday evenings with my bf.

Bonus tracks:
Edge Of Seventeen (Live In Chicago 2007). That Waddy+Lenny intro rocks!
Say Goodbye (Soundstage presentes, 2005. Duet with Stevie).

jbrownsjr 03-21-2024 10:35 AM

I love the Stand Back on the Shake the Cage tour. I think that's my fav.

A lot of folks at that time didn't like her doing a solo song during FM. But, it's all the same. At least they weren't as hokey as her solo band.

I love the intro at the Live in Boston. But like far more how she ends it at Tango video.

I really liked the way Stevie and her band did Rhiannon on her HBO special in 81. It just sounded so fresh after the greatness of the White Album tour. After her voice changed it just wasn't the same. But then she sang it in 81 and I imagine it was the band that gave it new life. Bob Welch and friends Gold Dust Woman was pretty awesome too

I do love that Bob Welch version! Forgot about that GDW.

I always loved the Rumours 20th anniversary special version of Songbird. Chris does it live but its not in front of an audience. They talk in the middle of it so it gets ruined but I wish I could have a full version. Chris sang it with such emotion and sincerity.

I think the Mac's 1990 version of Stand Back is the best ever.

The only solo song I think Stevie's band did better was Gold Dust Woman Bella Donna/Wild Heart tour. It was a much darker and rocked more than the Mac's version.

The worst version of Sara was Stevie's Wild Heart. Heartless and mailed in. They keyboard intro killed the song too.

I love Stevie's electric version of Landslide on the Whole Lotta Trouble tour.

The Rumours Rhiannon is the best version ever. Period. Simply insane.

Best Oh Well is Lindsey's Tusk Tour. Even better than Peter. Although I have never heard a Mirage version. Is that not sad we dont have a full Mirage show yet?

We could lose the ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh's.

This version you have has the best guitar solo. I love the end of this.

Mirage Tour is my favorite. Her voice somehow as weird as it was that day, lifts the song up.

I agree the Mirage version of live Gypsy is the best. Its almost like they knew they could not sound like the album so made this country vibe version instead. Her voice was in peak form and could handle that bridge....NO PROBLEM.
Also we get Chris and Lindsey singing back up. I don't think that ever happened again.

I even love the Christine Mirage rehearsal version :)

Ever heard Christine sing, Rhiannon? I think she voices, "Etc. etc. etc."

Well well, let's see!

- Monday Morning (from Live and that live performance from the Rumours deluxe album)
- Oh Well (from Live, but I like the original one)
- Not That Funny (from Live, definitely better than the studio version)
- I'm So Afraid (from Live and The Dance; in fact, every live version is better than the studio one, even some rehearsals...)
- The Chain (from The Dance)
- Bleed To Love Her (from The Dance, nothing more to say...)
- Gypsy (from The Dance)

Well, that's all I know!

Gypsy - has to be The Dance tour.
Silver Springs - The Dance & SYW tour.

For nearly everything else - Spring 1980 takes the cake for me. Richfield, Chicago, etc...those shows were incredible.

I don't think we will ever see a better band piece of Silver Springs like the Dance. They nailed it.

It was the best song from the Dance. The Dance is a mixed bag. I am surprised at those that like the neutered version of The Chain.

Does anyone believe the brass band sound is live or pre-recorded. I always thought it was real but over the years I think its pre-recorded and played into the music.
Not everything about the Dance is real and live which is why I dont care for most of it.

I rarely listen to The Dance. The era was fun tho. I met Lis and Marty around 1995, so we were jumping with joy.

But yea, SS is fantastic.

That’s how I remember it. Some emcee saying “We’d like to thank ....... for all the subways and the sodas...” And then Christine sucks down a drink, goes “ahhhh” and the barrelhouse piano begins!

Not everything about the Dance is real and live which is why I dont care for most of it.

Years ago, one of the horn players that was on stage that night came here to post and share their experience. I don't recall a mention of their parts being prerecorded, but they also may have all signed a non-disclosure agreement.

They could have been live for the taping, but later completely replaced with the same part recorded in the studio and added back (overdubbed) into the live track that we hear on the CD/DVD.

I like that Mirage version, but don't feel her voice was in peak. When I listen her at the mid 70s tours, there I do love her voice! Landslide, Rhiannon...

I love the HBO Mirage Gypsy performance. Everything about it is so special. I love that she is almost late to the microphone during a HBO recorded concert. I always thought she looks stoned in this performance with her sleepy eyes. But when someone throws a flower on stage she bends down to get it and she has the cutest and most adorable smile. Then she smiles again during the "maybe once, maybe twice." Its so cute. Mirage shows definitely had some vocal fry. But she tackled the song perfectly IMHO. So glad this magic was captured on video. Now where is the rest of this damn concert?

Good points. They were definitely playing their instruments but would they not have over powered the music or would the music have overpowered the marching band. So I am a bit suspicious.

I think you're right. Now that I think about, it's written on the disc. I moved 18 months ago, and haven't seen it since(it's packed away still).

Ahhh Yes, it's Largo, MD. I have it somewhere on VHS.
