Who The Heck Is "Long John Baldry" And His Band?

Never heard this before in relation to Mick and John and the formation of "Fleetwood Mac". The reason I ask:

Was LJB not part and parcel of everything John Mayell? Did JM's band not be the stepping stone for many young brits (clapton, taylor, fleetwood, and mcvie included) on the road to stardom? Am I wrong in thinking that Rod Stewart also, did hid apprenticeship with him? Sadly LJB died recently.

Long John Baldry was an English blues singer who was popular in the UK during the 1960's. Some of the not yet famous people to pass through Baldry's band were Rod Stewart, Elton John, and future Macer Bob Weston.

Yep. Elton John even named himself after Long John Baldry (that's where the "John" part comes from).
