Outstanding Songs .... pre-'75
I really enjoy the McVie / Welch / Kirwan era. "Future Games" and "Bare Trees" are two of the most easy-going cds I believe I own.
One of my fave songs from this era tho is hands down "Future Games"! Welch really hit it out of the park with this one. I also love "Sentimental Lady" and "Emerald Eyes". Those always garner a replay. In that same category as far as (my hero) Christine goes, I would probably have to say "Spare Me a Little" and "Come a Little Bit Closer" just for starters. Then again, she could basically sing the phonebook..... Her voice has been and still is amazing. Last edited by PsychCat; 02-22-2006 at 09:08 PM.. |

I'll throw in a mention for "Prove Your Love" as well, with Christine's beautiful vocal line. |

You could mention all 16 Christine songs from this era and you wouldn't be wrong. They make a great CD, by the way. My favorite Bob Welch songs are "Hypnotized", "Emerald Eyes"(a very underrated song), "Sentimental Lady", "Future Games" & "She's Changing Me". Welcome to the Ledge, PsychCat. I assume that you're the same PsychCat who starting posting on the message board on Christine's website. |

Future Games and Hypnotised are my favourite Bob Welch songs, and I have any number of favourite Christine songs - but I'll mention The Way I Feel as a particular fave.
But I can't let this thread go by without talking about Dust, Bare Trees, Sunny Side of Heaven, Station Man, Earl Gray, Without You, World In Harmony and Coming Your Way. Or Before The Beginning, Underway, Oh Well, Green Manalishi, Man of the World, I Loved Another Woman, Lazy Poker Blues and Black Magic Woman. Jeremy's recordings didn't show his greatest work with Mac, but I'm appreciating his songs more all the time. |

Listening to "Sentimental lady" right now. Tune out the lyrics for a moment and just listen to the guitars (and John's bass coming right up the middle during that pre-chorus...), it's a breathtaking experience.

I loved Station Man...began to appreciate Danny, then Jeremy..left and the Mac became an American band. That's not a bad thing..just my opinion.
Mick and John used to come into the record store I worked in then in Memphis when they were on tour. Just regular guys who were thrilled with our selection..(I thought it was terrible I was spending my hard earned $ on imports back then. I'd love to say I turned them on to Buckingham Nicks, cause I owned it at the time. Needless to say I was thrilled when they joined. I really appreciate Bob Welch's playing....but it was not Mac to me. He was more of a jazz influenced guitarist. On the plus side, Christine blossomed at this time...the rest is history. Tom

As far as Penguin goes, Nightwatch and Revelation are not bad at all.
