From the day of its release until now my three favorite songs are the same: Freedom, In The Back Of My Mind and Behind The Mask.

People often ask me what that great Stevie Nicks song is whenever I play "Affairs Of The Heart", whether it be at a party or in my car...It seems to catch people's attention.

I was excited about this LP when it came out. It really was my first Mac LP to be excited about ....I had only been collecting since like '88/89 around that time....its not my favorite LP though but its not horrible......it wasn't the same without Lindsey but well I did like Rick more than Billy.....it was a different kinda a LP though.....ahh the memories....wow 20 yrs ago.....time sure flies.......

I just wanted to say that I'm listening to this album for the first time now, and never in my wildest dreams expected to enjoy it as much as I am enjoying it right now! I'm only up to "In The Back Of My Mind", but my expectations of it being an excellent album throughout have now been raised extremely high!

Outstanding, jaycee! We need more open-minded Ledgies like you!!!!

If you REALLY want to get adventurous, download the outtakes of the Behind the Mask sessions here:

http://www.guitars101.com/forums/f90...kes-69551.html

There are some great songs that didn't make the album (and should have), and vastly different versions of the songs that did....

Way to go, jaycee!

Edited to add: I know I've said it before, but on the outtakes there's a version of the title song with only Christine's voice and Mick's drums that would melt steel......

The only criticism I have of the album (the inclusion of "The Second Time" notwithstanding) is its running order.

Here's how I program it (replacing "The Second Time" with the "In The Back Of My Mind" single B-Side, "Lizard People"):

In The Back Of My Mind
Behind The Mask
Freedom
When It Comes To Love
Affairs Of The Heart
Save Me
When The Sun Goes Down
Stand On The Rock
Hard Feelings
Skies The Limit
Love Is Dangerous
Do You Know?
Lizard People

And, here's my "Deluxe Edition" Behind The Mask (including outtakes & leftovers):

In The Back Of My Mind
Behind The Mask
Freedom
When It Comes To Love
Affairs Of The Heart
Save Me
When The Sun Goes Down
Intuition
As Long As You Follow
Stand On The Rock
Hard Feelings
Skies The Limit
Love Is Dangerous
Got No Home
Paper Doll
Do You Know?
Lizard People

Well, the running order seemed okay to me, but I'm always interested in taking FM's songs and mixing them around to see if I can find better running orders, so I'll try your suggestion first. Thanks!
In case you're interested, I once "tamed" Tusk by changing the track orders to "sensible" positions to see how it would sound. The results were surprising to me - I prefer the original order most of the time, but it does change the feel of the album in a way that is quite enjoyable every now and then. (I can't remember my reordering offhand - I'll have to find it out later this weekend, if I can.)

Yeah... I'm sure open-minded isn't always something that crosses people's minds when they read some of my posts! But I am always open to things, although I never hesitate to refute them if I think they're wrong. Anyway, I'm blabbing now!
Thanks for the outtakes! I'll get them within the next couple of days and have a listen.
Of course, I've now heard the album in its entirety, and I really liked it - I found many songs to be "Heart Of Stone" quality (well, by quality I mean enjoyable - I think that song needs to be remastered), so I was happy.
Btw I listened to Time as well last night, but I just found it to be very poppy overall, so I'm rather indifferent to it. I'm still glad I own it now though.
