I don't see it. Italian Summer is great on IYD, but I don't think it would fit on an FM album at all.

I think it would be fine (and even expedient) to have Dave do more of Stevie's stuff, but I would want him to stay away from the rest of the band.

I think he and Christine would be absolutely lethal together. He would bring out Christine's very worst traits. I think it would be like a whole album of Cheaper Than Free. I'd take cyanide. I'm going to keep a capsule on me, just in case.

There's a rumbling about news of a "New Fleetwood Mac single" on April 19 on twitter... Anyone else heard of this?

No, but then we should start taking bets on how long after the single the album will drop.

It seems that the "New single" is actually an old unreleased FM song from 1971 and is being released as part of "Record store day"...

All of this is from social media and may or may not be true...

Oh ok. I read about that this week. Yes, I put up a post about that in the Early Years section.

Hey, it's a "single" in the true sense. An old seven inch vinyl!

I will tell you, even though I do miss vinyl albums, I don't miss dealing with the 45s.

If you're interested, you can see how social media got a hold of it. The RSD website lists all the releases so you can scroll down and see the FM one there - http://recordstoreday.com/SpecialReleases

I have the 1971 "Dragonfly" single, w/ "Purple Dancer". So, are they saying it wasn't released in the United States or in general?

Blerghh. Mediocre faceless drizzle, and slick.

Who are LB's weird producers? Apart from himself? Froome produced los Lobos, crowded house and Suzanne vega. All huge commercial successes. Come on. Who's weird?

Lindsey is the best one to produce the new MAC album. Anyone he has worked with in the past would be fine as a co- producer. This MAC line up had ONLY 5 studio releases in the last 39 years and all were successes. Bring it on and get it done.

Michele, I couldn't help but bust out laughing at your post. Dave and Christine and an album of Cheaper Than Free. Save me a bit of that cyanide please.
At any rate, I believe that whoever produces the album will know that a new FM album with this line up is going to be a very special deal and handle it with extra care.

I still think Rick Rubin would be the perfect choice......he's done some great work with rockers, but he's also pushed a number of country acts out of their boxes and on to new heights. I think he would serve each of the three songwriter's needs perfectly, as well as the band instrumentally.

Default New Album

I'm a bit disappointed there wasn't much mentioned for a new album.
I have been reading however, and it seems they are going to be in the studio to record new music with Christine. That could mean so many things. Christine mentioned an album after the tour? Wow, so what then? Another tour for that album? Did Fleetwood Mac take a page from Rush's business plan. Rush toured 3 years in a row with much success, then did an album in year 2 and toured it. The album was fantastic as their chops were completely solid. This is when I say, "Thank God for Lindsey" I'm sure he is dying to make new music. I hope he gets his wish.

Maybe their lack of comment is due to a lack of contract and/or label. Let's get this done already. I feel for the people that spent tons of cash to see FMac only to see the same setlist (add Christine tunes). And some of those people may not even like her hits. Which would mean another nostalgia tour.

Anyone else have an opinion?

It's been 'after the tour' for a few tours now, and Lindsey offers up some excuse about needing to be on the road to establish a 'dynamic' and then they'll record an album 'from the ground up'.

You don't need a contract to say 'we're recording an album'. A contract isn't the vehicle for an album - an album is the vehicle to a contract. They've said Warner wants them. So record something!

They can't stand each other (look at Lindsey's face in those photos) and I've just come to accept the reality that Fleetwood Mac have nothing to offer, as a band, anymore, other than rehashing old material.
