I mean, who doesn't love a nice rim job?

I do think the outro is a tiny bit too long and there seems to be a bit of re-use of a motiff from You and I Part II. John's bass is lovely and tasteful, as ever. But where's Christine? I'm not going to invest in some super-deluxe headphones to see if I can make her out, deeply buried in the mix. I find it a little odd that LB didn't use her more on his songs, even if he thoughtthat they were in the can before her return... For a duets album, there could have been a bit more duetting...

I keep listening for those soothing and subtle oohs and aahs he sometimes let her add to his songs and they're just not there. Just an extra bit of colour was on his palette and he thought better of it.

yeah but isn't that precisely why they brought in Mitchell Froom?? Doesn't he deserve some of the blame??

I thought Mitch Froom produced the EP and he played instruments on LBCM...I've got to read the liner notes(case) for LBCM!

I stand corrected. I was going from my memory of the mini documentary video if them in the studio and though Mitchell Froom was the guy sitting at the console. Lindsey is all over not just his songs but hers too. There's your problem right there, man.

Anyway, he was brought on to entice Stevie to record with them. Those were the songs Lindsey did with Mick and John in 2012. I don’t know how involved Froom was after Christine came back.

I love BuckVie just as it is, and I'm very thankful that it's free of Old Goatsy. Could there have been more Christine? Sure... but I love my swan song, regardless.

Um, what? On all three songs you listed both Lindsey's and Christine's vocals can be heard clearly and you can distinguish one from the other. For songs like Sleeping Around the Corner and Love is Here to Stay, this is not the case. Both great songs (I tell a lie, I bloody hate Love is Here to Stay and usually skip it when I listen to BuckVie), but I doubt Christine is singing on those recordings.

Besides, in those songs both voices were different than today. Specially Lindsey's, it was far different than in 2017. So in the BuckVie songs it should be very easy to distinguish them.

Someone else said it, for a duet album they could have done a lot more duetting. And also true, as someone said, Lindsey would have opened his songs to record Stevie's vocals on them (if for example they were doing a duet album). Why not open his songs up for Christine's vocals? Just seems so odd to me. Oh well. |
