SHAME on them for singing The Chain after breaking it. They should’ve done a Christine song. I don’t know or care if they sound good because I won’t watch.

My wife and I thought they sounded great! (minus John's technical problem). I like Mike Campbell's twist on some of the guitar work. Niel Finn's vocals seem to be just a "fill-in" of sorts, but maybe he'll stretch it out a bit more once they get touring.
I do think they are charging way too much for tickets this time around, even if they still had Lindsey. I plan to go to my local San Diego show, but I'm waiting for ticket drops this time. Jamie

Here are my grades of The Finnwood Mac performance on The Ellen Show
“The Chain” Neil A (Neil’s nailed the vocal, looked confident) Mike A (Mike nailed the guitar solo) Stevie C (seemed off-key to me and made an odd vocal gesture mid-way through the song) Mick A (Mick nailed the drums and seemed energized) John B (played the bassline well but hard to see behind Neil) Christine B (solid performance) “Gypsy” Neil B (not much for Neil to do in this Stevie song) Stevie D (her vocal was really sub-par and that’s being kind) Mick A (again looked energized) John B (off camera most of the time, but solid) Christine B (off camera most of the time but solid; interesting that the focus was never on Christine making me think that she may depart the band after this tour) |

Quite surprised the biggest hit maker didn't get a song. Isn't that weird? And she looks fantastic. 75? She looks 50.

I wasn't going to watch it, but I did end up having a look on Youtube.
It was... lackluster. Bland. Boring. But I'm not surprised. Stevie has lost so much range, plus she looked like she was going to fall asleep up there. As a lifelong Tom Petty fan, I have a lot of respect for Mike Campbell. I still do, but he lacks Lindsey's stage presence. I think arrogance in a performer can be actually be a very good thing and Mike just doesn't have it. I had no opinion of Neil Finn going into this - and I still don't. Maybe they'll get better as time goes on and they do more live performances, but I don't think I'll be watching to find out. |

Well after watching this performance I wish they just called in quits when Lindsey departed.Mick still has the energy and sounds great. Musically sounded real good but the vocals are weak. Neil sounded good but was obviously turned up over Christine and Stevie. I don’t know how Stevie and Christine’s voices will hold up for this tour. It saddens me to see this. I’m glad I saw Buck/Mcvie last summer and I’m sure Lindsey won’t disappoint this November.

So, So, Many Things To Say:
I'm just scratching the surface but here you go. 1. I'm not sure Chris is playing any parts anymore. 2. Campbell is really good if that's all they are doing with him that's such a waste. 3. Hope Mick is enjoying playing in the Stevie rythm section. This is clearly the Stevie show now. Nickswood Mac is more suitable now. 4. Mike was playing keyboards over Chris in Gypsy? 5. Stevie seems very happy. 6. The band are professionals, and they were very tight, and rehersed. 7. They cut the outro to Gypsy, that's the strongest part of the song. 8. Energy was crazy low, they need to raise it big time. 9. 300 of the forum tickets sold are Ellen giveaways 10. Poor John 11. Signing The Chain first out of the gate, with the sly smiles for Stevie is incredibly telling. |

He was! He always seems to be in heaven performing though. Did you see all the dancing and little hand gestures Christine was doing? She seemed really happy. Looked like there was a fair amount of interacting between she and Stevie too. |

Overall I thought it sounded okay...but it looked as boring as hell. They'd better get more energy in The Chain- that's the signature song and if that has no life then they're done for.
The shouty, hand-wavey thing Stevie does on Gypsy is stupid. Who is the new chap on the keys???

Everyone in the crowd was getting two tickets. I ballparked the audience at 100-150, assuming additional tickets were probably given to crew as well. 300 sounded right.
