I mostly enjoy moldy oldies of any kind of music from the 1920's to the 1980's.

Well done - you've managed to pick one I liked when I was a teen. But I didn't know it was hair metal. I liked similar stuff to that, guns and roses etc - but apparently they're hard rock I know a tiny bit of Black Sabbath and Lynyrd Skynyrd but as you can probably tell my knowledge in this area of music is very limited.

I've gone through so many different music fazes. I tend to really get into something, and then move on to something else. For many years I was into Soul, Funk, Disco, House and Garage.

Some particular favourites in recent years have been:

Bob Dylan
Joni Mitchell
The Killers
Bon Iver
Nina Simone
Aretha Franklin
Stevie Wonder

The only band that has stuck with me, since my mum and dad bought the Greatest Hits in the 80's, is Fleetwood Mac. Its the only band I have ever gone back to again and again until this day.

(I'm naming the "parent" band or artist...also includes solo material and spin-off groups by the members of the parent band, for example, Rolling Stones would also include Keith's "X-Pensive Winos" & Bill Wyman's "Willy & The Poorboys" blues band)

Allman Bros Band
Beatles
Eric Clapton
Bob Dylan
Grateful Dead
Little Feat
Rolling Stones
Santana
Bruce Springsteen
The Band
ZZ Top

Those are the main ones...the list is actually quite a bit longer, but don't have time to list them all.

I love these kinds of threads!

Heart
Led Zeppelin
Joni Mitchell
Lorde
Lana Del Rey
HAIM (kinda...still getting into them.)
Eagles
Janis Joplin
Johnny Cash
Patsy Cline
Loretta Lynn
Def Leppard

Not all of those are "bands" but I love them as well as Stevie/FM

I was in love with Marti Pellow/Wet Wet Wet when I was about 10 - my first musical obsession . I didn't realise they were still going.
I remember going to see Jamiroquai (we thought they were pronounced jammy-rocka) in this tiny venue, on my 16th birthday, before they were famous, and I was completely blown away - amazing sound and energy, and I loved his voice. I thought to myself -I'm sure they're going to be big.

Seeing a lot of great taste on here. I shouldn't find that surprising, but it is nice to confirm.

I'm not really a "band" person. I mostly listen to singer-songwritery types. Fleetwood Mac is the only band I'd really call myself a fan of, and I always view that more as a group of singer-songwriters sharing space than anything else.

Patty Griffin
Anais Mitchell
Happy Rhodes
Kate Bush
Jonsi/Sigur Ros
Marianne Faithfull
Peter Gabriel
David Bowie
Sarah Slean
Jann Arden

And, well, lots more really, but those are definitely my main music squeezes these days.

I thought the Sigur Ros film - Heima was an incredibly beautiful film. I saw it at the cinema and absolutely loved it. I haven't tried watching it on a small screen, because it seems to be one of those films that needs a big screen.

I've been listening to some of 50 words for snow and I really like it. One of the tracks had me in tears - I guess that's a sign of good music. Its perfect music for winter

Sarah Slean, Sarah Harmer, and Sarah McLachlan... the modern Canadian holy trinity...

If the Ledge Commune ever works out we can have
a big listening session.

After Elvis, way after - comes a few others...

Not necessarily in order
Pink Floyd
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Robert Cray
Dwight Yoakam
Shelby Lynne
Rosanne Cash
Johnny Cash
Marty Robbins
Eric Clapton
Pat Benatar
The Go Go's
No Doubt
Carly Simon
Dolly Parton
Linda Ronstadt
Mark Knopfler

Several artist or groups are ascending as I get older,
such as...
Led Zeppelin
Rolling Stones
Bob Dylan

One of the newest artist (to me) that might have jumped
all the way to number two on my list, which does include
his solo and group albums is Jack White.

One unfortunate tragedy of being a favorite is being
played too much. That and as they've gotten older
they don't seem capable of great new music.
Who you ask? That would be Fleetwood Mac.

2013 was a good year for concerts for me, 2014 starting off slow to say the least. My most listened to artist of all Time is Fleetwood Mac but I have a few other current interest:

Blondie
The Go Go's
Evanescence
The Pierces (still waiting for opportunity to see these sisters live)
Fifth Harmony (not really a "band" but I love this girl group)
Cyndi Lauper
Florence and the Machine
Cheap Trick
The Pretenders

Bob Dylan
Jimi Hendrix
Jefferson Airplane

Simon and Garfunkel
Van Morrison
Joan Baez
The Mamas and the Papas
Pink Floyd
