It's that bit of wood at the bottom of the wall running along it.

One thing that has really annoyed me is the use of the word "toilet" in Europe, as in, "Where is the toilet located?" I dunno... that just seems so... coarse. Vulgar maybe? I much prefer "bathroom" or "restroom" or "powder room;" it places a little bit of distance between the person you are conversing with and the bodily function you are about to perform.

There is also:

aubergine = eggplant
courgette = zucchini
boot = car trunk
jumper = sweater
bloke = dude
chemist = pharmacy
underground = subway
lift = elevator
rubbish = garbage
car park = garage
cheeky = sassy
tits up = messed up

I also think the British women tend to call each other "cows" for some reason. Is that tantamount to the "b" word?

An Irish person called me a "ride" the other day. I have no idea what that means.

It's a compliment. It either means you're good looking, or, to put it (very) bluntly, you're a great shag.

Or, if used in conjunction with the term "Bike", it is probably an insinuation that you're a whore. The term "Bike" means you "get around" a bit.

See, that's an Americanism that goes right over my head It's so weird how similar, yet completely different, the language is.
