It would definitely have to be in a lower key, but I think it could work well that way. Most of the song is actually in a relatively low register anyway. Let Lindsey take high harmonies, and I think you've got a concert highlight.

Favorite simple-and-direct lyrics:

"Now, I can't define love like it should be
That's alright
"

That is indeed quite all right.

No, much like David, I'm very rarely trying to be an asshole (with a few exceptions the past couple of days). We just speak directly and unapologetically.

Really? Cuz when David does it, it's funny and playful but when you do it, you come across as smug and arrogant. Hmmm....I wonder what the missing ingredient is ? Ah yes, sarcasm with a dash of condescention! -----I'm sure if I spelled that wrong you'll let me know. I bow to your infinite wisdom, I really do!

Sure, if you'd like: condescension.

You spelled it incorrectly on purpose, didn't you?

bwah! Not saying. Envision this though: I'm steepling my hands right now so as to signify world domination.

I dunno Towie. I think the following statement, also on Wikipedia, is true:

However, country music is actually a catch-all category that embraces several different genres of music: Nashville sound (the pop-like music very popular in the 1960s); bluegrass, a fast mandolin, banjo and fiddle-based music popularized by Bill Monroe and by the Foggy Mountain Boys; Western which encompasses traditional Western ballads and Hollywood Cowboy Music, Western swing, a sophisticated dance music popularized by Bob Wills; Bakersfield sound (popularized by Buck Owens and Merle Haggard); Outlaw country; Cajun; Zydeco; gospel; oldtime (generally pre-1930 folk music); honky tonk; Appalachian; rockabilly; neotraditional country and jug band.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country_and_Western

To call it Western is technically correct, but to call it country is not incorrect either.

hilarious.

to answer the original question ... my favorites are "love in store" and "that's alright" (spelling error notwithstanding). "love in store" is a brilliant opening to the album; i love the harmonies. i think "that's alright" is one of stevie's absolute best songs. so clean and pure. her country (or western, whatever) songs really showcase her ability to write a great song without any witches or what have you and just tell a story. and the voice ... my GOD, the voice. she makes me swoon.

EDIT: i should add that i also LOVE "hold me" but i think the live versions of it blow away the studio version, so i don't know if that counts. i think it's the desperation in the live versions that get me - the "why don't you just hooooold me???" kind of stuff.

Strangely enough, I really like Hold me out of all of them (which is unusual for me, as I'm not a huge Christine fan, but hey... there you go )

Hmm...interesting. I would venture to say that most people on the board don't share this sentiment. I like the live versions that I've heard, but mostly for the guitar work.

I think the band felt so, too. That's why it never made the Mirage video, IMO.
