So, for twenty-one thousand pounds we purchased Benifols, a secluded mansion on a hill, just past the Devil's Punch Bowl near Haslemere, in Hampshire.

Who exactly would be "we"?
I always thought THE BAND owned it.

I thought it was mick and john? not sure about jeremy. i know in some old interview chris was telling john in about 1972 that everything he'd worked for over the last 7 years was 'tied up in this house'.

It's been at least 15 years since I've read Mick's first book. Things are fuzzy...

Well….the owners over the years have obviously done a good job and somebody is likely to see a healthy profit.
£21,000 adjusted for inflation is around £342,000 today.
So if they can get £4m then that’s a very tidy sum.
I’d assumed it was the whole FM band that had a stake in the house, including Bob Welch who had joined by that time. But maybe not.

IIRC, Bob only stayed there when they were making albums or rehearsing, otherwise, he lived in Los Angeles.

Yes, and though the obvious meaning of "we" was the band, it's hard to think they all agreed to buy a house. From Mick's book I understand they bought the house circa december 1970. Christine has just joined the band, but since she was a wife's member, yes she could have agreed. The rest of the band was John, Mick, Jeremy and Danny (Bob joined in april 71).

Did the four members agree unanimously to buy the house? Jeremy left the band in feb. 71. Was he mentally fine in december 70? How was Danny? He left them in aug. 72. How was the finnancial status of each one?
