Thank You
I just wanted to say thank you to all the fanbs of the pre '75 era Fleetwood Mac. I come in here and post and ask questions because I really want to learn more about this era and because I do enjoy it. I wont make any bones in that I prefer the newer era, but I have alot of respect for the older. Whenever I come in here and post no one ever acts judgemental or patronizes me for being a "Younger-35" fan. It's enjoyable to learn about Peter and Bob and all those people to me. Thanks again everyone that comesin here to the pre-rumours section.

Glad to hear it David...good to pay homage to the originators of the band, I'm sure it helps with your overall appreciation of the band the Mick has worked so hard over the years to keep together...I doubt many others would have had the gumpsion(?) or strength or persistence to keep such a project going. Especially after all of the guitar palyer turmoil in the early 1970's. You are a true fan.

You make a good point...however, back when Rumors and the other popular album with Lindsey and Nicks back in 76'-77' the radio stations played that stuff to death. It was crazy, and it was not at all Blues based music, just totally pop. Many of the early fans prefer a Blues based sound, and combining with Jazz and Fusion as there was alot of that way back in the later 60's and 70's. I don't think as many of us "hate" the later incarnations, as much as we don't care for that style of music. There have been rumors that Mick and Peter may get back together, much like Cream did last year, obviously it wouldn't be like the old days, but it would be Bluesey/Jazzy....not pop based.
The Blues based rock music made many of us seek out the roots..IE the black blues musicians from way back 1900's on up through the 50's, 60's, etc. Hendrix was truely the rare link, as he played on the "Chitlin" circuit, came to england, and created his own style. Clapton, Green, mayall, and many others fell in love with that stuff...and the rest is history. This of course is just my humble opinion. |

It's a really good group of people here on the Ledge....well, at least the Pre-Rumours and Peter Green boards, which are the only ones I ever look at - can't say about those other boards!
I've learned a lot from other people here, and I've traded some great discs with a number of other Ledgies. Another big "thanks" from me.....and thanks as well to the owners & administrators of this website for allowing all of us to connect like this! |

I'd like to add my thanks, as well.
The help, information and occasional mp3 freely offered here is greatly appreciated - and it's always a nice play to be. |

I "hate" Celine Dion. I "don't care for" Celine Dion. I "dislike" Celine Dion. It's one & the same. Further, there's nothing wrong -- is there? -- with hating/disliking/not caring for any music act. Be proud of your dislike! Stand up & say so, boldly & unequivocally! I'm sick of all these namby-pamby apologias on the order of "I don't particularly care for the pre-1975 incarnations" or "The post-1974 incarnations aren't particularly my thing," yadda yadda. Many of the Fleetwood "pop" Mac fans hate the earlier incarnations -- are bored ****less by them -- & many of the Fleetwood Mac fans of Green, Spencer & Kirwan are bored ****less by the post-1974 Mac (one of my best friends, Brian Danks, is one such person). It's time we all recognized that the Fleetwood Mac audience is not one big monolithic entity with even remotely similar inclinations & proclivities. I like talking to you, rob! I hope you post a lot more here. |

I don't care for Santana's music, for example. I appreciate that he's a great guitar player, but most of his music just doesn't do it for me or bores me. On the other hand, I hate emo bands like Dashboard Confessional. Actively and violently. There's a world of difference in my feelings toward Santana and Dashboard. Quote:

Like what's with all this Heart love & Benatar love from Stevie Nicks fans? I don't mean to sound surprised, because Stevie's fans have loved Heart & Benatar for decades, but it's like walking into someone's house & there's duck art on the walls--the kind of stuff you find in motel rooms--& you can extrapolate descriptions of that person's general taste. Either that, or the person is a notorious ironist. I've decided to speak my mind on the Ledge from now on, by the way.
