You know it was bad when Pete Townshend would have been the less difficult option.
That's hilarious. And, my memory has that article in my brain somewhere.

Ugh, I’m now imagining Klonopin-era Stevie singing “Baba O’Riley” and getting nauseous.

Good lawd, NO.

Unpopular opinion, but THE WHO SUCKS. I like a couple of songs, and that's it.

Now I remember when Daltrey went solo and released a song called Free Me. The video sucked, my TV almost exploded with his screams.

They’d have needed two guitarists to replace Lindsey. Pete Townsend for one, plus bring back Jeremy Spencer.
Ahem…..

I dug his cover of Murray Head’s “Say It Ain’t So,” which was The Who minus Pete. Incidentally, the Murray Head version had Bob Weston on slide guitar.

I woke up in a Illume doorway
A policeman knew my dress
He said, "You can go sleep away tonight
If you can get up and walk away away away away away

I staggered back to the underground velvet
And the breeze blew back my blue hair

I remember throwin' Lindsey around
And preachin' from my chair!!!!

awwww who are you ? (christine) who who, who who...

I’m still blown away the band considered Eric Clapton a realistic option and they didn’t go for it.

I don't think it is a good idea to replace (any) Fleetwood Mac member with a well known successful artist. Cause of course they would bring their hits to the FM show. I like that in a Prince's Trust Concert or in those called supergroup bands like Asia or Travelling Wilburys. But combining known artists in a band, it reduces its legitimacy.

Totally. Could you imagine Pete T managing Stevie?

Can you imagine Pete Townsend attempting to give constructive feedback to Stevie in the studio!? What a showdown that would have been.
