The argument people make is that Christine had 16 years away from Lindsey so that's why she had a great time making music with him in 2014. Whereas Stevie had to "deal" with Lindsey since The Dance.
That’s what she said, but I think that was to save face. That she didn’t make a Fleetwood Mac album after Lindsey was gone and her primary collaborator was in tells me that she doesn’t have anything left and doesn’t want to be seen as the weakest one.

Does Mike actually sit and work on the music with her like Lindsey did? I thought he just sends her a track, she writes lyrics, and gives him writing credit.

Lindsey developed her basic music into something viable, and even then, after Rumours, she started working with others on developing songs on her demos. Mike has written music, arranged, played on, and/or produced songs on all of her solo albums.

Regardless, Lindsey was out, Mike was in, there was no apparent animosity between Stevie and Mick, John, Christine, or Neil, and Stevie still wouldn’t record with the band. Lindsey being difficult to work with for her was only part of the equation and the only part she’d say out loud. The other part is she doesn’t have anything left as far as new music is concerned and she didn’t want to be seen as the weak link in the chain.

I guess so. Her latest release is a cover of a 50 year old song, which she called a new song in promoting it.

It's too bad. But I think she has solo stuff left. She doesn't want to share it with FM.

Or, she doesn’t want her songs to be measured against songs by Christine, Neil, and Mike or Christine and Lindsey. It would hurt her image if her songs measured unfavorably, and she remembers 1987-96. Why risk it when she’s headlining arenas?

Would you agree with me that she'll get one solo album out before she turns 80?

We know she's recorded three songs that haven't been released in the past 2 years with Adele's producer.
Stevie has had top 10 album debuts since TISL. With her popularity now she could have a # 1 album

When you're choosing "What has rock and roll ever done..." as the material you want to work on with Dolly Parton, I think it's safe to say her prolific songwriting days are far behind her.

All of these "icons" lose all sense of quality control. McCartney, Elton John...there are others that I'm forgetting at the moment.

I think a new album is a maybe, a big maybe. I don't know if Show Them The Way and For What It's Worth was intended to test the market for interest in new material etc. Neither of them made a big splash.

Maybe. I don’t see how it helps her career, though. It’ll be quickly forgotten except for the die-hards.

Of course not. MAYBE she’ll do “For What It’s Worth” since everyone knows it, but “Show Them the Way” would be a beer run song and she knows it.

Well right now Mick doesn't feel the band will continue.

And Irving will flash a big check for a series of farewell shows and maybe an album where Fleetwood Mac (Neil and Mike) Jeff Lynns some unused/demo Christine McVie songs as well as new/rediscovered songs for a farewell album.

Seems unthinkable, now, but would that surprise anyone?

If that exists, I'd like to hear those songs/versions.

Not interested in any kind/lineup of tours or shows.

They do.

I don’t, either, ar least in principle, but seeing Mick and John one last time would be hard to resist, at least for me.

The only option I would want to see is if Lindsey work his magic on an unused Christine demo, and if Stevie could be persuaded to provide some backing vocals and John and Mick contribute as well. I can remember in an interview around the time of BuckVie Christine said she had a song she didn't know what to do with. One last song from the five would be lovely.

Anything else just isn't going to work. John may not even be up for any kind of tour any more even if Stevie could overcome her antipathy to Lindsey and a tour with just one "Rumours" vocalist wouldn't work as Fleetwood Mac. The vase is definitely too broken, now.

It’s basically all on Irving, which takes out Lindsey to some degree, although not entirely, and becomes a matter of what’s available as far as Christine is concerned (the unused LBCM song and maybe anything Dan has, i.e. reworking “Come Out and Play”) and contextualizing that within the context of whatever Neil and Mike bring.
