Question Whisper at beginning of "The Chain"...

Am I crazy or does someone whisper f*** in the very beginning of "The Chain"?

I was listening to it on my phone with headphones and it sounds like someone says f***, my guess is Lindsey, then sighs and begins to play.

It's the studio CD version I believe. I'm sorry if this has been posted before, I did a couple searches but didn't find anything. I have been listening to this song non stop for months and this is the first time I noticed it.

I always thought it was tape sound... not sure... but yeah it definitely could be someone saying something.

I don't hear the F-bomb on the vinyl copy I have, but I definitely do on the remastered CD I bought.

I first noticed it a couple years ago and was amazed that I hadn't heard it before. I agree that it's most likely Lindsey. It sounds like he's kind of sighing it - like he's annoyed with something or frustrated or whatever. I was so excited to have made such an interesting discovery when I first heard it

Same here. I wonder if they left it in on purpose.

I like to think so. It's like with "Follow Me" on Blondie's Autoamerican. If you turn it RIGHT up at the very end you can her one of the guys say "You're not really going to put that on the album, are you?"

Yeah, an amp cable had fallen directly in front of his mic stand & made a little plopping noise right when they were about to count for tape rolling. They edited out the plop but left in Lindsey's reaction.

They also left in Christine's Hammond B3 "signal" -- a series of eight or ten sharp staccato jabs -- to the sound room that she was done recording the organ parts on "Oh Daddy."

I never knew that was why she did that, but it doesn't seem right without it.

Thanks for filling us in.
