Talking Spare Me A Little

Love this. The music, the harmonies and the pictures are awesome!

My favorite version is from Seattle, 1972. Danny Kirwan was a monster on it.

Oh YES that IS a much better version. Even though the harmonies are wonderful the song flows better with no backing vocals. The guitar work is much more crafty too. Thanks for posting this treat!
Recently on one of those Red Beard interviews Lindsey opened up about playing these old Mac songs in the old days. He never liked to play them and it made him feel like he was in a cover band playing night clubs.

Both of these versions are missing the word 'bit'. Neither of them sound quite right as I sing along with them in my head. On record I imagine its Bob Welch who sings 'Just a little bit' in the background in response to 'Spare me a little'. Wonder why he isn't singing backing vocals live.

I love Kirwan's guitar in the Seattle version, but Christine's voice at this time was a bit rough.

My favorite version of the song are the 1974 performances. Welch plays the parts really well. And Christine sounds amazing.

Here's an example:

Imagine how Mick and John felt doing DYLMDA, Crystal, Frozen Love, Stand Back, HAEWFY, and Go Insane.

Oh I agree. One thing that I could NEVER understand about the Mac from 2002 to 2013 was since it was the Stevie/Lindsey show why did they not play more songs together. It was the perfect opportunity to play the songs where they sing TOGETHER. They should have played Crystal, I don't want to know, and Frozen Love on every tour. I love the Mac version of Don't let me down again. That's a great song on the LIVE album. Its totally insane. The Mac played Don't let me down again in 1987 WITHOUT Lindsey. But they never played it during the years Chris left and Stevie and Lindsey were fronting the band. It all makes no sense to me. They had over a decade to go back and play some songs where Stevie and Lindsey sang together since they did not have to worry Chris needed to do songs.

Well, they did do DLMDA once without Christine. I do wish they would have kept it in.

Since they did DLMDA once when Lindsey wasn't in the band, I think Mick and John must be ok with it.

And we know that John wanted Crystal on his own album.

By that point, it was pretty much a Fleetwood Mac song. It had been on FM Live, and had been a regular part of their set.

Although, I wish the would have done "It Ain't Over" instead.

Huh? He wanted it on the 1975 album, but not on Gotta Band. (He wanted "The Bigger The Love" for that.)

You know what I meant by "his own."

And don't forget the album version. Pure classic Mac and Christine.
