I like the song that Peter Green wrote called Before the Beginning.

Me, too. I like that it is in the key of Bb. (modulating to G for the final riff)

One of my top five favorite Peter Green Fleetwood Mac songs.

I wonder whether he was influenced by the Hammerklavier Piano Sonata, Op. 106, by Beethoven, which also modulates from Bb to G.

The odd thing is that on the live version on the Shrine '69 album, it modulates to (I seem to recall it being) C...it really is a surprising change for those of us who are accustomed to the original Then Play On studio version.

I really think the shrine version is one of the best recordings of that song. but i also like the then play on version where the end section devolves into an "underway" type groove. very smooth

The Clifford Davis version is also interesting.. Peter tried different ideas for that recording, and it has strings all over it
