![]() I used to write "rumors" and then would use the proper UK spelling when referring to the album. Now that I'm in NZ it's "rumours" here !

![]() I like to spell it rumour. Unless I'm using the word for something important, I'm too sissy to spell it rumour and spell it as rumor instead. I think the liner notes in that booklet are being a bit generous saying that a bunch of Americans misspelled the word after the album came out.

![]() Curious: Do those of you Americans who opt for "rumour" because you consider it correct in the United States also spell the following as indicated?
aluminium draught manoeuvre skilful centre memorise favourite Incidentally, the American spelling of "favorite" is closer to the etymological source, which is the Italian favorito.

![]() I spell it "rumors" when I am talking about rumors, and "Rumours" when I am talking about the album.
I dated a British dude for several years that did half American spellings and half British spellings, based on what he thought was "less stupid." So instead of "centre," he did "center," because, to him, the "-re" just seemed dumb, since we're not saying "cen-tree" or "cen-tray" or whatever. But he did use an "s" instead of a "zed" we use for things like "apologize" and "memorize." ![]()

![]() Rumours, because I spell almost everything the British way to closer resemble the nature of the English language - convoluted and inconsistent!

![]() Actually it is more difficult being an Australia because some Americanisms have crept into our language but we are still primarily a country with an English background.
So while most people do spell words the English way, we also do spell some words like the Americans. Oh and failing that we just make up our own way ![]() |

![]() Just wait 'till you get into college or grad school and they start giving you a hassle over whether to put a f'g semi-colon inside or outside the quotes!
![]() You wouldn't BELIEVE the "battles" I had with one T.A. over that lol!

![]() No reason for you & your T.A. to battle over that one, Tim. The American rules are very clear!
