Regarding Tango, I used to think it was horrid as well. The first time I heard the album was probably in '94... at the height of grunge. I was utterly dismayed by it, and refused to believe the same band that had recorded Gold Dust Woman and I'm So Afraid had recorded such trash. But sometime in the past 5 years or so, I've come full circle on Tango. I think it's fantastic. Many indie bands are now implementing the very '80s sounds Tango is known for. Tango is kitschy and fun. I also think it's the album that finally balanced Lindsey's need to experiment sonically and the rest of the band's desire to remain approachable. Tusk was too progressive for the masses, and Mirage was way too middle of the road as a reaction. I think Tango was the album which bridged those gaps. Not to mention, I think the back story of Tango and all the upheaval going on with the band internally is fascinating. Way more interesting and juicy than Rumours.
