When she says SYW, the song, is about Christine, maybe she means it is sort of an homage to Chris and her writing style. The song sounds very Christine-ish in it's lyrics and basic melody. I'm thinking the lyrics subject-wise are more about Lindsey, but the style of the song is more about Christine.
Does that make any sense? -Sharon

Her eyes, her mystery . . .
You all have read how Stevie cloaks things, and how she keeps journals and pulls ideas out of them. I don't know that the date it was copyrighted necessarily means much. She may have written the actual song recently, but the ideas for the song might be as old as her journals. For example, and I know you don't agree, (I'm not sure I fully agree!) what if part of this song was written about Mick and the affair she had with him long ago? Didn't she recently say something in one of the articles posted on this site something to the effect of- after an after show party, when she and Mick were drunk, that's when their affair began? Late at night, early morning. It might fit:
When love starts out in the darkness It doesn't do well in the light Affairs of the heart That start out in the dark Usually stay with the night. They hid their affair. In the darkness, in the light, etc. And while it certainly seems mean-spirited, every day he calls me He says he adores me What can I say? I think it's possible to spin this song quite a few ways at this point. But "you always know when something's wrong." They BOTH knew this relationship was wrong, and it was doomed, and it would destroy the band, not to mention other relationships. Just another possible fitting of the pieces of the puzzle. |
