Actually, it's Barrie, Ont. BTW, I think it sucks that they have to call themselves "The Bachman Cummings Band" instead of the Guess Who. Damn Jim Kale.

That's awesome. I looove The Tragically Hip. I still don't think i'll be able to make it to Philadelphia. They're telling people if you don't have to go into the city and you're not going to the concert, avoid at all costs.

Here's a question:

Is this whole Live 8 thing going to work? Is it going to spark the next big global social movement?

The Canadian show is being televised on CTV. And I've heard all the shows are being broadcast in their respective countries, with some of them carrying satellite feeds from the other ones. Maybe because of the last minute issue, they're just not listed? Dunno for sure...

I've heard that it's going to be aired on both MTV and VH1. I don't know which shows, though. For those of you in Great Britain, I can tell you that my husband's company has had two of their satellite trucks hired to cover the Philly show for the BBC. At first he was going to do the show for MTV, but he got changed to the BBC coverage.

The City was busy today around the art museum area trimming big trees lining the Parkway, erecting stages and stuff. Supposedly they're expecting 1 million people, and have only arranged for 300 port-a-potties. Not sure how that's gonna work!

I'll come to your place for cocktails--we can watch all of the assholes in the city on TV

I heard on the radio this morning exactly what you just mentioned. VH1 and MTV are planning on broadcasting some of the shows as is the internet. ABC has something to do with the rights of the shows I believe and plans on dedicating primetime coverage to Live 8 so it will certainly be broadcast which is awesome.

Sounds good! My neighbor makes the BEST cosmos!

My husband has to park the truck Thursday night, and may be staying over there, IF he can get a room. My boss isn't even going into the office on Friday to avoid the masses. I'm hoping I'll be off....You couldn't pay me to go. I will be curious to see how they have it set up, though, because it seems like there are going to be a lot of obstructions in front of the stage, like that big Geo. Washington statue and all the massive trees on Eakins Oval.
